I know this is off topic, but I didn't know where this would even belong.

I will only buy Toyotas. I have a Tacoma and my wife has a RAV4. I am wanting to upgrade her to something bigger that will better fit the family when we go on trips and with her running errands.

The 4 Runner and Highlander really don't seem much bigger. I started looking at the Sequoia and it looks great, but the gas mileage is absolutely terrible. I don't understand how the Tundra gets better MPG than the Sequoia.

Is Toyota ever going to address this problem? Is there anything else I should consider getting her?

which years are you looking at? the 4.7 in the first gen and the 5.7 in the second gen are not going to win any MPG awards.

the new 3rd gen coming out will likely have a more efficient engine and get you some better MPGs.

Is the 2022 not next gen? When does the 3rd gen drop?

i think 2023 is the next gen

the 2022s are still in the second gen (although they did get a facelift a few years ago) - but otherwise have basically been the same since 2008

The '23 sequoia can freaking get it, I think it's so sexy.

I have a limited sequoia with the 5.7 and I get 15-16 MPGs all the time. Previous owner averaged 13 according to the dash but I suspect we are very different drivers. I’ve had a Tacoma, 4Runner, Tundra and now Sequoia. The Sequoia is nice, the 4runner seems so tiny in comparison. Mind you, we are a no kids household but I have a GSP and Boston Terrier. I occasionally go to Costco and load her up. The space and HP is worth the loss in MPGs. I feel like my mildly built 4runner was less than 20 MPGs. My tundra averaged 14-15 MPGs. The Sequoia is great for people living in higher elevations, it climbs 3000’ very well.

If you're willing to go used, LC200 Land Cruisers are a sweet piece, but are still pretty pricey, esp now that there is no current LC300 option (yet). Gas mileage is just as bad since the Sequoia is just the poor man's land cruiser, but you get all the offroady bits that the Sequoia doesn't necessarily have.

    Not too shabby.

Looks like they're borrowing a bit from the Grand Wagoneer but Toyotafying it, which works.

Also has those newer goofy shaped headlights like the new Tundra, but they work on this and look like absolute trash on the Tundy (imo.)

The 3rd gen Sequioa will share the same engine as the 3rd gen tundra. (iforce MAX) There have been several issues with the new Tundra. Hopefully they will be all worked out by the release of the Sequioa release. I would look at Tundras.com for some info and real world use for the platform

Also seen some people review and drive the new Tundras and so far it's only a few MPG difference. Which helps for sure, but time will tell.
