Had same issue with mine today... need the right angle thing. Did you get the one that accepts the male end of your coax and then inserts into the bottom of your antenna?

So you still have to ground it even though it's on the hood?

That first coax has the ground terminated out of the cable so you have to run it somewhere. I drilled a small hole in the mount to attach it with an SS mach screw & nylock. I later switched to the 'firering' style (2nd link) coax for reasons of my own stupidity (was trying to get SWR incorrectly and blamed the cable). Also, your hood bolts are painted which can have an effect on how well it grounds. You'll just have to see if you can get your SWR down once everything's mounted, and if you can't maybe re-work your ground situation.

Sorry it took me so long to get these, but here's the Firering style coax connection. My SWR isn't as good as it could be (I haven't bared any metal to improve it), but it's reasonable and I have talked with a guy that was 5 miles away and it was loud and clear on both ends.

    From underneath-

From Above. You can see the hole I drilled for ground when I had the other style coax-

Havent tried fitting one, though I'll have a 4th gen in my shop next week and I could take a look to see if one will fit. :)

Because a 'regular' type antenna mount has the coax screw straight into the bottom of the mount like this-

    http://www.rightchannelradios.com/firestik-flat-universal-cb-antenna-mount-pl-259.html

This causes problems with the relentless mount because of the underside clearance issues. And yes, I'm using a lot of rightchannelradio's links, but that's only because they have an easy access to what I'm referring to. I am in no way connected to them in any way whatsoever other than as one of their customers.

I suggest following my buddy Benson X's build instructions, he did an incredibly detailed instruction thread and makes things very easy to follow. You can also look at my build thread for an alternative method, but I'd do the FireRing attachment if I had to do it over.
