Thanks! It came out all right for my first try!
I’ll probably make another and use this for something else.

I made this a few weeks ago. Its made from the same 10oz vinyl coated polyester as the trash bag and the tent.
The mesh will be the same as the window screen. It’s phifertex I bought from sailrite.com.

it’s for the hoses for the hot shower system in the pelican case on the back of the truck.
The washers are going to get replaced when I put grommets into the corners 123790BE-7E02-4CFC-A689-D6C122D33F19.jpg

    Slowly working on the tent.

1 inch Self adhesive velcro on in side.
I hope the velcro doesn’t end up being a bad idea.
    Clamping pressure helps things stick.
    4ED7256F-7BDE-43DC-A7C8-37FEC250A095.jpg

2” sewable Velcro is sewn to the tent fabric. And the tent is hung.

The bottom is held on with Keder rail that’s screwed into the top part of the camper with M6 screws and rivnuts. There’s A rubber gasket between the Keder and the camper.

I sewed a 2” strip of tent fabric to the Kede cord. The 2” strip had about 1 1/4” fabric exposed.
The exposed bit will be glued to the main tent body so there will be no visible stitches from the outside.

cutting the tent fabric to length. Having a 9 foot by 5 foot able really helps cutting a 24 foot long length of fabric 59B0C710-84A0-4922-8E22-5BFD611AEB4C.jpg

uncoiling the Keder cord to sew the 2” fabric strip to it.

The Keder attached to the truck. Next up glue the tent fabric together then take the whole thing off and add the windows.

    I almost forgot.

    I switched tent fabrics.

I didn’t like the 10oz vinyl coated polyester I got. It lets a lot of light through and it’s sort of hard and brittle feeling. It doesn’t bend and fold well.

I’m going to use 18oz vinyl coated polyester instead. It’s much better. Less light,
    Softer feel.

It’s a lot harder to work with though. It’s heavier and not as slippery as the 10oz so it doesn’t slide across my sewing table as well. It needs be picked up and moved.

But it’s a lot better for what I’m using it for.

I cut 2” strips of fabric and sewed the Keder cord then the strips. Then I glued the strips to the tent body with HH-66 vinyl cement. There won’t be any stitches visible from the outside. Hopefully this will actually work.

I’ll let the glue cure overnight and re attach the tent in the morning and start making windows. If all goes well they won’t be fucked up looking.

Haven't checked in in a while but goddamn does your skill and attention to detail never cease to amaze me. Love how the tent is coming along!

I replaced the shitty washers I used for this with grommets. I also noticed the folding bamboo shower mat fits in the pocket nicely. The shower mat is always in the way.

Nah, I’m going to keep that thing for a very long time.
I think Id rather a regular Jimny anyway.

    That’s not a bad idea.
I have a friend who move just outside Tokyo from Santa Cruz in Feb 2020. He seems to like it.
I’m supposed to go visit at some point but stupid pandemic.

I made a thing for storing shoes and flip flops.
I usually have a few different pairs of shoes with me when I go camping.
They normally end up where they’re in the way.
