I did some more stuff with the vacuum leak but haven't driven the truck in a while.

I spent last week making panniers for my motorcycle

I was planning on buying some panniers for my motorcycle but I had a bunch of left over fabric from making the tent for my camper so I made my own panniers instead.

Got the fabric cut out, the reflective tape sew on and the padded bottom done.
    IMG-6526.jpg

Fellon Flex Foam adhered to aluminum I had left over from the camper as a rigid backing. I made it so the panel can be removed and the pannier can be soft and attached to a bike with out a rack.
    IMG-6524.jpg

Almonst done. I'm just waiting on some webbing and more buckles to finish the roll top.

    At camp

Nice view from Friday night's camp site.

    Near Courtright Resevoir

Stopped to check out some trees

Finally got to some dirt and got stuck.
I layed the bike on it's side and dragged the rear tire out of the sand I dug myself into. Then stood the bike up.
I got stuck from picking the wrong line, not enough momemtum and maybe the wrong bike, lol. But pretty much my own doing.

    Back to pavement

I started making a new trash bag. AKA OtisBound Outdoors Trashole 2.0
    image.jpg C4EDCF85-A301-4459-9C5B-F1BFEDA8790D.jpg

I have some goals for this one. It should be strong enough to use it as a ladder to climb onto the roof of the camper. More pockets. Better pockets. Better fabric. More dust proof for the big front pocket.

I’m waiting on a zipper I ordered for Trashole 2. In the meantime the motorcycle panniers need some adjusting.

They’re really big and I’d like to add a curve to this bottom corner.

After some BAD (Bag Aided Design) I have an idea of what to do.

I made a trash bag that hangs off a tail gate.
    C80C9E90-AFB3-41B4-95CB-5E4E92822F60.jpg

It has a mesh pocket in the lid.
    69DEE990-283F-43E5-92EA-3965B856E469.jpg

A solid pocket in the body.
    6C165581-1D50-49CD-BFA1-E38CCB283980.jpg
Its pretty big. When it’s on a 3rd Gen tail gate the bottom will sit at the height of the bumper when the tailgate is close.

How much for a tail gate trash hole?

I was just thinking you could sell these bad boys.
No doubt way more robust than any other options on the market

Most if the design for this one was from @theed. Good work!

Good question. They take a lot of time and the materials alone cost a lot more than a trasharoo costs. But they should last more than a couple years like a trasharoo.

But I don’t think they’re good enough to sell at this point.

First I have to work on my sewing technique. I’m still learning new stuff all the time.

I think I need my sewing machine professionally tuned. I had a needle strike and now its timing is all crazy. I tuned it and it’s better but I don’t have the time to do it correctly.

Interested if you ever do. Ever since I started running the bike in the bed the trasharoo on the tire on the bed isn't an option for me now, so something that's appropriately sized for the tailgate would be a huge help. Looks like it's meant to pivot out and away from the tailgate when it's down so it can be used in both up and down positions right?

keep in mind that if you hang a bag off your tailgate, it'll basically sand down the paint over time when wheeling if you care about that. Ask me how I know lol

Not worried about that, this is the current state of my tailgate. If I ever get it nice again maybe a vinyl wrap would help with that?

    That looks fine to me.

Yeah, it'll for sure sand the paint off.
I think if I sold these I would include a few pieces of vinyl wrap or clear 3m tape.

When I had the trasharoo on the back of my camper it had a broken buckle so it would swing just a little.
It sanded a couple spots in the paint down to the metal and that paint is super super tough. I used Total Boat aluminum boat paint. Like you can drag a screwdriver across it and it doesn't care.

Sweet beer coozie by the way!

Edit, Correct on it swinging away.
It's on @theed 's truck. It was more his design than mine too. I just assembled it.

Yeah, it works really well on the tailgate like that - put the straps under the screws that hold the tailgate panel on and let it swing.

I've run a Trasharoo like this (first a real one, then a homemade (slightly smaller) one, then an otis24-made one) for about 5.5 years and the rubbing/chafing on the tailgate is minimal. It's one of the least broken parts of my truck.

I'll get a picture soon if I remember

There isn't a pattern available for this, is there?

I would LOVE to either make, or have one made for both trucks, maybe even one for the quad!

Maybe we'll make a real pattern next time. The gist of it is "take an off-the-shelf trasharoo and copy it, but make it shorter so that the bottom sits on top of the bumper and the top fits below the rim of the tailgate (and then add whatever other stuff you like)"
