On this post I would like to know what model and set up you have and what flavor worked better for you and tell me your experience. Down below is what I have.

    Model: 2019 Tacoma doublecab longbed

Lift: around 3.5 inches of lift

    Tires: 285/70r17 RT tires

Add-ons: Sliders, roofrack, lightbar, skid plate

Others: about 200lbs of equipment in trunk

    Tune: OTT with Medium/Spicy flavor

First off, I love the throttle setting. It makes the truck feels light as compared to when it was stock tune. I felt that there are times medium throttle was a little too much and I have to really feather the accelerator. On highways and inclines it will hold gears better without gear hunting and the truck climbs effortlessly.

I have gotten use to it but my wife otherwise tells me it's too jumpy for her. I am about to retune to mild/medium to see if it gets a little better.

With all being said those who got similar throttle settings how does mild/medium feel on your truck? Tell me you me your experience.

Sounds to me like the problem isn't the truck tune. I think your wife's mute button is broken.

All tune levels are great if you can manage the pedal. More aggressive, means it takes more effort to control. You either adjust or you need to step it down. Most wives, or kids learning to drive go with lite/mild. You can try stepping down the tune to mild/medium and go from there.

OP....did you step down to Mild/Medium? That's the one I am intending to go with and was curious how you like it.

23’ Off Road. Stock everything. Started on light/mild, switched to med/spicy, takes a lot of effort to not make this setting jumpy IMO. Had my tuner set me at mild/med 5k miles ago and believe it is the perfect setting for all around drivability.

I got Mild Drive/Spicy ECT and LOVE IT!

I ride OEM with my 2021 TRD Sport DCSB/AT.

Had OTT one year after ownership and have enjoyed it ever since.

If you don't like how she shifts in D then goto S4.

Once you get to know your truck's quirks, it's HEAVEN! lol

I did step down and went with Mild/spicy. I felt like spicy would be beneficial when I go with a bigger tires.

I drove med/spicy on 4hi and 4lo and I was hard to control because it was quite jumpy and unpredictable going over obstacles. With mild I felt that I was able to have better control in 4hi and 4lo.

Overall Mild/spicy has been great and works well with what I do and would recommend this flavor.

Sorry but whatever setting u do is not going to make it better … aftermarket tunes don’t ever work well . IMO the 3rd gen transmissions are complete trash . I test drove the new 4th gen it’s so smooth . I’m thinking trading up to the next gen . This is coming from someone who drives a manual daily . Just for insight I had a 3rd gen with an auto and tune still got rid of it .

    I wonder:
1.) How the capability of the person doing the tune plays into it
2.) How well the truck owner communicates where and how they use their truck and what their goal is

I was kind of surprised when I got a pretty involved and long questionnaire to fill out. On top of that I had a pretty in depth conversation with the tuner.
I felt pretty good and confident because the tuner was well known and recommended by the guy that runs the shop I go to who is also has a very good reputation by the people in our off road group. I just can't imagine using spicy in 4Hi let alone 4Lo. I am just guessing because I don't know shit about tuning but I would imagine spicy would be for a stock truck with no weight. I am loaded down with armor and 33s and mild is what I use all the time especially off road. Occasionally for the hell of it I hit the ECT button to get a little frisky with medium but really mild is just fine. She doesn't gear hunt in either and when I need to accelerate she can get up and get out of her own way. So yeah - I would say make sure you get a tuner that knows what they are doing and take the time to communicate where and how you use your truck.
