Ok, thank you for the clarification.

I have seen a few dyno charts here and there; is an MT power/torque curve with the SFOB going to vary from what I am seeing (assuming they’ve all been for AT)? I am reluctant to tune primarily for warranty purposes (and am aware of the debate around the “detectable or not” can of worms), but the glowing reviews (from most*) here have piqued my interest; charts/quantifiable improvements would be a huge selling point for me.

I have no info regarding OTT tune, sorry. I’ve only ran the original OV tunes.

A lot of TW members have been tuned since 2017 or so. Not a single story about dealer refusing warranty on here, I wouldn’t worry about it man. Get your truck tuned and enjoy!

^^THIS^^. I think all of these tunes are working "within" the manufacturers specs for high and low tolerances. That's why they're virtually undetectable.

OV Tune (now known as VF Tuner) is the originator, and retailer of the hardware and software, to crack the ecu codes from toyota. He (mat), came out with a few tunes, then decide to turn the tuning over to the users of the tune, software, hardware, and step away from "tuning". now he just provides the hardware, software, and licensure to utilize both.

pro tuners like KDMax, Overland Tailor (OTT) etc... are their own entity, and are the tuners, and testers, bringing their own tuning philosophies, through to the masses by providing dyno, and datalogged back performance gains, while utilizing the hardware/software from VF tuner. like beer choices, everyone has their favorite flavor. do your research, to find your flavor. good luck! It'll just shift both torque peaks (each runner length has an optimal RPM) to slightly lower RPM points and have top-end power taper out just a touch.

The spacer simply changes the tuned frequency of the intake runner lengths (long and short).

I wish I could tell you, but I haven't been able to, easily, get an OTT tune file. I've tried most of the other vendors, all of which
simply emailed, or PM'd, me a file so I could flash it myself. I contacted OTT via email, asking for the cost of the tune file so
I could flash it, and got a "give me a call to discuss" response. No thanks, I just want to know the cost, and get the file(s) via PM or email.

I've been running KDMAX for a while now. Version 8 was smooth. Version 9 had some dips in power through the RPM range. Version 10 (Sport+) is incredibly smooth, to
the point that I have to REALLY be feeling for the ACIS dip.

As for the claim that ONLY the OTT tune generates more power than stock, I call PHOOEY, but then I haven't been able to compare it to the others.

While it doesn’t seem to be an issue with Toyotas, other manufacturers can easily tell if you’ve modified the PCM. It has nothing to do with the new data, but a digital signature on the program. Toyota either doesn’t use this technology or doesn’t regularly check it.

$315.00 is our price direct. Our 3rd party retailers will have different pricing but they’re not authorized to sell the files direct. They can only be acquired directly through OTT.

Jun 27, 2022 you PM’d me and I quoted you the price at that time, with no reply.

If these tunes hadn't corrected the strange tranny shifting, I think tacoma sales wouldve been lower.

    Thanks for the explanation.

I am not super close to a tuner but I tend to like fiddling around with stuff myself anyway; I am assuming things like speedometer correction and such can be done, but can one fiddle with things like throttle response settings and charging voltage (for AGM batteries) on the fly or do those require entirely new tune files?

Speedometer correction an not be messed with through tune - need a physical speed calibrator device like Rough Country or Hyper-Tech for that. Maximum speed governor can be messed with through the tune.

Changes made can not be made on the fly, they need to be part of the tune file and then flashed to the truck.

Did you ever get rescheduled for the tune? I’m suppose to meet up early next week for a tune with Aaron and don’t want the same results.

I have you down in the calendar. The quote you are using from was an honest miscommunication he and I had on date/time. I drove personally out to his house after I found out. We are good to go for next week.
