Why does the Tacoma 3.5 V6 sound different than the 3.5 V6 found in the Camry/Avalon/ES350? Camry/Avalon/ES350 sound smoother and less rumbly. Also, do the above cars redline at 6k rpms like the Tacoma V6?

I believe the faux "Atkinson cycle" nonsense is only used on the Tacoma version...

Completely different setup. Transverse mounted vs longitudinally mounted. Unibody vs body-on-frame. Those are just skimming the surface on differences.

Different exhaust. Tuned different because of different demographics.

Interesting. A coworker has a ES350 and I was surprised how smooth his car was. I do enjoy that the truck has more of a rumble feel to its motor as compared to the silky feel of the ES350.

Different heads and crank will change the sound of any car, as well as lowering or raising the red line.

I got the jump on an ES350 a few months ago and gave him a run for his money. Only about a .6 second difference in 0-60 time and I'm not exactly stock anymore. heheh

I love the way Lexus' look, but I could never pay that price for a truck motor in my "luxury sedan".
