Which fan did you get? 12” is a tight fit. My 10” was about as big as I could fit.

Check the humidity too, just for something else to compare. I know y'all don't know what water in the air is :p

I’m in San Marcos so it’s like 20 minutes away from the ocean.

I know for a fact idle my ac won’t get below 50 even if I use the fan. After a few minutes it will probably be 60-65 degrees.

I won’t use my fan for the test. I do have a modified mechanical fan though.

Sooo.... What exactly did you do to drop temps? I sort of got lost in the information. You added more oil to the system?

The issue with obtaining temps, at least for me is that it specifically HAS to be over 100 to be able to make my system start blowing bs hot air. It has not been over 100 where I live lately.

What would cause that? It was literally just evac/vacuumed/re charged at a shop

Or is that due to low idle rpm compared to driving ?

The A/C in my 2015 Tacoma performs (and behaves) about the same as the A/C in my old 2005 4Runner Limited V8, which wasn't very good. It was a 100 degree day here today and it cools alright, but it certainly won't freeze anyone out. Compared to the A/C in my 2015 Explorer, you'd think the Tacoma was blowing air over some mostly melted ice. The Explorer cools WAYYYYYY better and that's without kicking on the rear AUX A/C, which it then feels like you're inside of a fridge. haha.

In all fairness the Exploder probably calls for some 2.5-3 lbs of refrigerant. So the capacity alone allows the a/c to cool you to the point of near freezing. Auxiliary a/c on in the rear or not, that thing just is capable of holding a lot more refrigerant so it has a clear advantage over ours.

Not arguing that point. Was only a point of reference for me personally. The 1st Gens had great A/C, as did my old 2005 LS430 and 2014 IS350 F-Sport. Toyota knows how to put together a good A/C system, it just seems that the same vintage of 4Runner/Tacoma had simiarly (under)performing A/C. I also don't recall the A/C in my prior 2016 Tacoma 4x4 TRD performing like the 2nd Gen.

Yeah I mean if anything, Toyota understands (hell ALL of these manufacturers do) how to engineer a great functioning air conditioning system. The issue is that these manufacturers are attempting to cheap out in cost of materials and quality of materials as well to raise their profit margin while charging premiere dollar for non premiere products. It reflects in the end product, however. Prime example. I am sitting in a $33,000 truck which feels like a $15,000 truck (at best) based on how cheaply it mechanically is constructed.

Like I don't understand it. We stand at the pinnacle of technology today, never has tech been in an ever improving state and here these manufacturers choose to skimp out on their end game products. The vehicles from the early 2000's and 90's were leaps and bounds better performing and longer lasting than the vehicles of today, yet the price point of today's vehicles are more expensive with the promise that it MAY last you 5-7 years before you have to junk it because everything is breaking at such a rapid rate. What gives you know?

Sooooo, started to notice an issue with my AC. It seems to ebb and flow, cold to not so cold back to cold. It will blow nice and cold for about 20-30sec then hit a 5-6sec bit where it blows normal temp air then back to cold. Anyone have this or know a fix?
