Hello Tacoma World! We’ve just sold our ‘57 Bel Air 4 door Wagon to move on to a new adventure (and yes there were some tears, but no regrets). Classic cars were a huge part of my life so far, but i’m sick of tiptoeing around them, and only being able to drive them 6 months a year (we live in upstate New York, currently 19 degrees and falling).[IMG]
So, as i was saying…we (my wife, kids, and family) have been outdoorsing and camping all our lives, so i proposed a new adventure to them. “Let’s buy a midsized truck, outfit it properly, and see the country.?”
A lofty goal indeed! But i never thought i would ever own that Bel Air either.
My loving and supportive wife handed me the reins and we’re off on another adventure. This time instead of building the grocery getting station wagon, we’re building the off road/overland wagon.
I’ve always been kind of a go get it, but let it happen kind of guy, if it was meant to be, it will be….So after endless searching, and prices rising to levels we wouldn’t be able to afford, and still transform the vehicle, I got a call from my sister in-law.

“Hello brother, still looking for a truck?”

    I replied, “what’ya got?”

She said “i have a friend who is looking to sell her Tacoma.”

For a minute i was interested, then reality hit me, “a Tacoma?” I said, “if we could only be so Lucky. Well, give me the details.” Feeling deep down inside, this is a long shot.

The list went on, and my heart sank. “2010 double cab, 6 cylinder, automatic, factory tow package, 52,000 miles, 1 owner, bought brand new…”

As my sister in-law kept giving the details, I thought to myself, there’s no way we can get this truck.

My sister in laws next words are another reason i believe in karma, and always try my hardest to be a good person and to treat everything and everybody fairly and with respect.

“She (the current owner) is one of my best friends, and was in the room when our 1st son, your 1st nephew, was born. Her husband recently passed, and she asked if i knew anyone deserving of this truck, that would take care of it as her husband did, and would use and enjoy it with their family. And I told her you! She has not advertised the truck, she wants you to come see it.”

I won’t tell you what the price was, but we made arrangements to see the truck, test drove it, and after talking with the owner for a while, we ended up buying the truck very reasonably. [IMG]
    ADVENTURE IS OUT THERE!!

This…is the beginning of another exciting chapter in our lives. We are so thankful to have this opportunity to share with our family and friends, and to show the young ones that if you work hard, be kind, and do what you feel in your heart is right, this can be a wonderful place.
