    The bolt just holds the rack down. The weight is supported by the side of the truck.

    That rack will not work with BakFlip covers.

    All of the racks here work with BakFlip covers, but you will not be able to open the cover: https://www.max-modular.com/shop-max-modular/

    @KB Voodoo
    Question... I am looking for dimensions on the tacomax. I found all, BUT, the one(or 2) I am after.
    I am curious as to the OUTSIDE width.
    Please ignore the crappy lines, I did it on the fly...
    InkedMAX+Tacoma+18x46+End+View_LIedit.jpg
    And, if the normal mounting tabs, are just flipped to work with tonneau brackets, or, if the tonneau bracket is a 2 piece package per leg, and if so, What is the same dimension as above with the brackets, WITHOUT the lower bracket....on the inside mounting surface.

    max+tonneau+brackets.jpg

    My thoughts are going back to a conversation we had about mounting with different covers, and usability. I have an idea to build a mount that will cover all my needs... and hoping to order this rack soon(before spring, as I need to put some money back away after buying the new bike), with some of your side mount bike brackets for my bikes, and be able to carry canoe, and yak.....

    Thanks man, I appreciate it.

    The total outside width is the same with tonneau brackets or with our standard attachment clips.

    I ordered the awning mounts to go with my MAX Modular rack, however the sides of my tent stick out too far and the mounts wouldn't clear the RTT. So I had a friend cut the mounts, add a 6" horizontal bridge, and then bedlined them. I'm very happy with the results and now I have my awning mounted to my rack.

    I'm still extremely happy with my rack system, and I get asked about it constantly.

    How much height do the tonneau cover brackets add to the rack? I need a rack to be tall enough to allow a roof top tent overhanging the cab to clear the antenna on my Tacoma and figure the tonneau cover might help me get there and let me keep using my cover.

    I believe it adds 2.5"

    would this system be able to be used as an internal support for my cap similar to how the ARE hd series is made? i would like to use this to tie into my roof rack from the inside so that i could put heavier loads up there than the standard fiberglass cap can hold. the 18" model seems like its almost tall enough to touch the interior top of the cap but are you able shim it to get a snug fit? also could you assemble it inside a cap? for reference, this picture shows the interior of the ARE hd cap and its internal support system. 2016-Tacoma-CX-HD-Topper-Frame-1200x900.jpg

    Big thanks to Chad @KB Voodoo for excellent customer service. Got a 100$ promo code for a Taco MAX rack because my old one was rusting very badly, even though it was past warranty. Great company right here
