OUR NEW 2001 DC 4x2

My brother has two kids. Doesn't go off road. And needs the box in the back to haul lumber/trees.

 

I'm sure it'll be perfect for him. Especially here in southern california, you only "need" 4wd if you're into recreational off-roading or take frequent trips to the mountains during winter.

4x4 Tacomas are a rare breed out here, 99% of every single one I see on the roads is a Prerunner or base model 4x2.

 

4x2 are rare up here in Canada. The last Pre-Runner that I saw for sale up here ended up going to Africa.

 

Funny how drastically it changes due to location, but makes sense considering the climate differences. We never see snow out here, get maybe a month's worth of rain every year. Complete opposite of Canada I'm sure lol.

I always look at every Tacoma that passes by to see if it's a fellow 4x4, I usually toss a wave to them if so. Prerunners never wave back so I stopped doing it lol.

There's been snow up in the San Bernardino mtns like in Big Bear . Next project for my Tacoma is a Detroit locker

I have seen some 2001 DC 4x2, with a rear locker button.

Carpool where I am is 3 people but the jumper seats aren't full size so I only need 2 people to get carpool

 

Base 2wd are 5 lug different suspension and the pre-runner is 6 lug and built on the 4x4 suspension.
