Outer CV boot keeps ripping, why?

    Mine are leaking on my 2015. So, from this thread it sounds like I can have my OEM’s rebooted instead of needing to replace the axels. is this true?

    That is true. You just have to do it yourself or find someone who will do it for you.

    Toyota Outer Rubber Boots are more durable than the Napa ones.

    The inner boot mod can work for the inner boot, but I wouldn't do it on the outer boots. At one point I did all 4 of my boots and both outer ones leaked grease from the clamped area of the boots and I used the correct clamps with the correct toyota tool to clamp it down as well. I have rebooted before too.

    I have used the Dobinson High Angle inner and outer boots on a rebuild, and they were ok, lasted about 50-60k on driver's side and the Pass side is dry rotting pretty good on my 4runner.

    CVJ axles are my favorite with the red inner boot and the OEM outer boot. The red inner boot also has a thick rubberband on them that helps to separate the inner two most ribs.
