One could call this pack an ultra-minimalist kit and you’d get no argument from us. However, when faced with an injury that has resulted in heavy blood loss…this is the items you’ll need!   • (1) OLAES® Modular Bandage is the newest generation of trauma bandages and is advantageous for all levels of care providers. Packed with features such as 3 meters of gauze, a removable occlusive plastic sheet behind the dressing pad, and a pressure bar that can also act as an eye cup, the advanced capabilities of the bandage are tucked neatly away and can be utilized if required or simply ignored. No hooks or clips to confuse or delay care. Velcro® ‘Control’ strips prevent the elastic roll from accidentally unraveling and secure the bandage throughout the application process. Two seals, each individually packaged, are designed to allow the user to apply a seal to both an entry or an exit wound while also giving the option to only apply one and store the other until needed as the situation requires. This innovative design provides 3-vented channels designed to prevent airflow into the chest cavity during inhalation while allowing air to escape through the vent channels during exhalation. The 3-vent channels are designed to allow blood to escape and also provide a backup fail-safe system, as even if two of the three channels become obstructed, the vent is designed to remain fully operational. COMBAT APPLICATION TOURNIQUET (C-A-T Gen7):
The patented C-A-T® is a true one-handed tourniquet proven to be 100% effective by the U.S. Army’s Institute of Surgical Research. Tests proved that the C-A-T® completely occluded blood flow of an extremity in the event of a traumatic wound with significant hemorrhage.

The C-A-T® utilizes a durable windlass system with a patented free-moving internal band providing true circumferential pressure to the extremity. Once adequately tightened, bleeding will cease and the windlass is locked into place. A hook and loop windlass retention strap is then applied, securing the windlass to maintain pressure during casualty evacuation. The C-A-T®’s unique dual securing system avoids the use of screws and clips which can become difficult to operate under survival stress or where fine motor skills are compromised.

The patented Combat Application Tourniquet® (C-A-T®) featuring the proprietary red tip design and the mechanical advantage of a band within a band has been the Official Tourniquet of the U.S. Army since 2005. The innovations in the C-A-T® are protected by U.S. Patent Nos. 7,842,067 and 7,892,253.

SOF® TACTICAL TOURNIQUET WIDE:
The SOF® Tactical Tourniquet-Wide (SOF®TT-W) is the result of an exhaustive 24-month research initiative compiling end-user research and laboratory studies to develop a more effective, easier-to-use tourniquet for all environments. High-strength, light-weight alloy components are used in critical areas of function ensuring reliability in the most challenging of circumstances and on the largest of limbs. This was all accomplished while reducing the weight by approximately 15%.

The high-strength hook and buckle interface was designed for security, strength, and ease of application. The design allows for rapid routing of the tourniquet strap while eliminating need for re-threading the webbing through a buckle. By eliminating the requirement to re-route the webbing the tourniquet is easier to use when operating under stress and reduces application time, both of which can result in reduced levels of blood loss and better quality patient care.

The SOF®TT-W also has a true 1 ½” tourniquet strap providing a wider compression pattern than most standard tourniquets, or tourniquets with a 1” constricting band moving through a 1 ½” sleeve. This broader compression pattern allows for increased patient comfort and additional arterial compression.

The tourniquet handle is machined from a single piece of high strength aluminum bar stock. The strength of the handle virtually eliminates the risk of product failure. It is then anodized to minimize the products signature in a tactical environment.

So, just a heads up for people who have little to no medical training, trauma or otherwise.

The 5000 kit is actually pretty decent looking. Building your own kit would get pretty expensive, pretty quickly. The kits will always come with an excess of a certain item that you'll likely never use (eye shields), but as a whole this is a legit one.

Before you ever employ something like this you should either educate yourself with reputable sources online or just take some basic classes. If you aren't sure what you're doing, you can cause further harm to someone. Using Hollywood or TV as your source of knowledge will only let you down in a very bad way.

Also, if you choose a kit that includes a tourniquet get the SOF-T Wide. The CAT is primarily made of plastic, and over time it will degrade. The SOF-T is metal and canvas, a much better design.

Again, these are pretty solid kits. That kit is worthless if you don't know how to employ what it holds.

All kits are outfitted with educational booklets to get you familiar with products inside as well as the last photo is an example of the decal that rests inside the lid of each kit to support care and it’s simple and easy to read and follow in a high stress situation which is approved by C-TECC. And we do reccomend getting educated on products that you are unfamiliar with but we are more than happy to help anyone who may have questions on how certain items functions and what their uses are.

Yes you can as long as it’s similar to the cases above since some drilling is required. But I think you can get even more creative with the mount.
