Outgear solutions lead time 25 weeks and growing

Can't you just do a credit card charge back?

 

Companies with lead times extended out this far that are still taking orders are a massive red flag. They’ll continue to push the goalpost along until one day their Instagram is gone and the website is down.

 

I paid with my debit card..... lesson learned. It's past the 90 day time frame for me to do anything about it through my bank. My girlfriends sister is a lawyer so I'm going to be getting her help.

 

Ah, darn. I'm going to initiate a charge back if it goes over 8 weeks. He said in his email that it's 6-8 weeks. I'll just provide that email to my CC company.

 

Yeah I would request the refund the guy definitely has some weird shit going on. Got my money back last week so looks like some nice shiny bypasses are going in the rear. Sorry to hear you had a shitty experience too

Are you guys in the So Cal area too? One of the main reasons why I went with Outgear was that they are local. I can pick up the bumper without paying crazy shipping costs. I don't know who else makes a similar looking bumper in the area. I think the only other company I know is Beastfab.

I called my bank. I purchased using "shop" so I also started a formal complaint with shopify. I told him I need shipping tracking info or my money. I'm tired of waiting and getting the run around...... I'm about to start the paper work for the law suit if I don't hear anything.

 

Im in TX. shipping was my only option.

 

They are slow, but I got my tilted bumper eventually. Put in my order January 2023, got it April.

Been waiting on a custom one with swing outs now since mid November 2024.

I am extremely happy with the product tho. It can take a hit without shifting and busting my tail light like my previous bumper did. The high clearance has been clutch getting through a number of situations.

 

A slight aside:

I remember years back I got something steep for one of my prior Toyota trucks, and the company’s (NOT Outgear) lead time was about 6 months too. Ended up being totally legit and they were just that backed up. Iirc they hired more welders, got them up to speed, and finally got caught back up to having stock on shelves.

 

Honestly i would rather get my bumper than my momey back. I ordered the high clearance tilt w/ swing out. Tire holder. Dual jerry can holder. It's a good looking bumper but the communication is horrible. I would rather have a little communication than nothing. And then we you do get a response it's always another excuse.

 

Sucks that you're at that point. Dishonest companies give all other fab shops a bad rep. I remember this happening to a lot of folks during the pandemic, where shops took way too many orders instead of shutting them off, but never updated their lead time quotes.

That said I don't have a dog in this fight, but when a company starts letting lead times get past the 4 month mark you have to consider the possibility that they're taking orders without the ability to fulfill all of them.
Maybe they've run into financial trouble (underestimated cost, blew the money, etc.) and are using the cash from current orders to pay employees/materials for ones from months ago.
Maybe they just suck at fulfilling things on time.
Maybe their shop Tool CD got scratched and employee moral has cratered along with work ethic.

Either way, sounds like a lot of red flags.

 

Well i got a shipping notification this morning via email. But that still doesn't mean shit until I have a tracking number........ hopefully it's true and I will have tracking info soon.

 

Former banker here and I got zero dogs in this fight. But I about choked on my biscotti when I read your post. Never (and I mean never ever never!!!!!!) pay for an online transaction using a debit card. I am glad you learned your lesson. With a debit card, your money disappears faster than a pan of brownies at a pot party! You might be able to recoup this money, but then again you might not as you initiated the transaction and gave your money to a crappy business.

 

Another disgruntled customer here, I ordered on November 20th 2024 and here I am on February 12th 2025, still no shipping date. I emailed and called them numerous times after the 4 week lead time had passed, never heard anything back. I had to initiate a claim through Paypal, then all of a sudden he starts responding to my emails, what a coincidence! He claimed they have bumpers ready to ship, but they would have to skip the powder coating. I said sure no problem just refund the difference. Another week goes by and nothing. I email back and ask where's the tracking, he asks me to close the Paypal claim before he ships...

Ummm, how about NO. So far the customer experience has been one of the worst I've dealt with, and now he wants me to close the claim in good faith with no guarantee of shipment? If I close that claim then I lose the ability to continue pursuing resolution with Paypal. Sorry, not going to happen. He has done nothing to build trust so I see no good reason to put the ball back in his court. Hoping this get resolved soon, it's just so frustrating to have that money tied up on nothing right now. I have many other mods/projects I could be using it for.

 

Keep that claim open. I ordered may 16 2024. Literally just received my tracking number this morning. Then he told me the dual jerry mount will be shipped seperate. Im guessing via fed ex or ups. I had to get on the "SHOP" app and make complaints there. I emailed, text, DM'ed so many times with no response. Once I threatened my money back, my bumper with tracking, and made post about getting my lawyer involved i started getting responses. I'm 3 months away from waiting a year on this damn bumper. Still not in my hands yet. I will tell everyone I know to steer clear of this company if they mention wanting to get what they sell. Now that I have had this issue it has come out with other people I know personally that they had the same issues. I didn't know this at the time I ordered.

 

Do NOT close the claim. Let it ride so that Paypal puts the heat on him and eventually refunds you. Scummy.
