Outline/CAD drawing of a Gen 1?

Someone made a cool outline/CAD drawing of the 2nd gen which I used as a "build plan layout". Is there one for the 1st gen taco's? I want to start planning the future build.

 

I've got a 3D model that I've been slowly working on. It started out as a low poly STL.

 

Oh wow that's awesome. I was looking for a silhouette outline, but on a side note do you think I could use that file to 3D print one?

Haha it still needs a lot of work to make it watertight. I’ve been basically rebuilding each surface 1 by 1.

 

Well I'm definitely excited to see the finished version. In the meantime do you think you could snap a image of it as a silhouette? That's basically what I'm looking for and I would really appreciate it.

Time for build planning

 

That's pretty cool. I'm a CAD drafter but hardly model in 3D. My job is soley 2D drafting.

 

Same here, would love to dive into some 3D when I get a chance.

 

How to throw that on a 3d printer and make shells for RC cars

 

At some point I'll make a model. Here's the lab that I manage. We have 3d printers, laser cutters, cnc mills, vinyl cutters, waterjet, etc.

 

Man that is the dream job I've always wanted. I learned how to use AutoCAD back in college and I LOVED it. But I never was able to pursue that kind of work as I'm a hands on type of person while college today is not designed for sadly.
So now I work in networking haha.

 

What drafting work do you do? I work for a pre-stress concrete company and we mostly fabricate concrete girders and piles for bridges. We also pre-cast slabs for harbors and marinas. Most of my work is in Louisiana and Texas but I work in Mississippi. If you've driven over a bridge in either of those states most likely you've driven over a bridge that I drew up.

 

Super neat!! I use it for land surveying applications. Mostly staking out newly subdivided land for construction.

I work for Gulf Coast Pre-Stress, Partners & Texas Concrete Partners on the Gulf Coast in Mississippi. One of my first projects was the (IHNC) Inner Harbor Navigational Canal - Hurricane Protection Wall in New Orleans, LA. It's the largest hurricane protection wall in the world. It was featured on that show on the Discovery Channel, "Build it Bigger". I'm the senior draftsman of a team of 3. We used to have more but work slowed down a little. We have 2 plants over in Texas and 1 in Mississippi, where my office is.
