how do you find out how much output a battery can do to power amps watts???

Let say i have a optima yellow top 35 running to a 2500 watt amp.

How do you figure if you have to run another battery or a bigger alternator?

    What amp?
    What sub?
What impedance is the sub wired at?

And you may consider proofreading your next post.

    sundown SAZ-2500D
    2 dd 12 3500 Series
sub wired paralllel to 1 ohm

I was just using this as a example to figure out the wattage for the battery.

2500/12=208amps (and that's at 100% efficiency which is not reality)

    Go buy a new alternator.

You will need a new alternator with that setup. Why 2,500 watts? seems a little overkill especially in a regular cab.

I have a 10" sub running 175watts RMS to it in my double cab and there is a plenty of bass.

With today's speaker and amp technology you don't really need a lot of power to get good sound.

Unless you are talking about sitting and bumping for hours with the engine off in a parking lot, you are asking the wrong questions.

1400 Watt rating from almost every amp OEM implies draw at 14V (or maybe 14.4V depending). That equates to an Ampere draw of 100.

Almost all batteries can do this, pretty reliably too. Consider: Starter motors can draw well over 75 amps. Batteries deliver less current in cold conditions. Paradoxically, it requires more amps to turn over an engine in cold weather (thicker oil, etc). A big-block engine start up in January, in Chicago, would certainly exceed a 100A amplifier draw at the temps in your location.

What you need to ask is can your alternator deliver enough juice to stay up with the current draw. In which case your best bet would be to pick up the trailer package alternator, which IIRC, supports 130 amps. Or pay an auto electrical shop to rewind the alternator - the trade-off there is they put out less amps at idle, no such thing as a free lunch.

^I doubt he's getting 14v. Especially over a long period of time. You also have to remember that a good bit of the output is dedicated to running the vehicle, lights and stuff.

Regardless, the battery is the thing that makes the least amount of difference in the charging system. It's the holding tank, not the source. ;)
