Just got in my truck and the outside temp gauge is reading 19*. It most certainly is not 19* out - it’s mid 60s. It was working fine 2 days ago. AC also seems to not be working well either. It comes out cold but not as cold as it usually does while on the LO setting. Anyone else experience these issues?

Also drove a good 20 minutes and the temp gauge didn’t budge

Did you somehow switch it to Celsius?

    Sounds likely. 19* Celsius = 66* Fahrenheit

Edit: nevermind. Just saw pic. Still could be Celsius and it showing wrong.

That was my first thought as well: maybe it’s reading Celsius but displaying Fahrenheit. It’s now up to 23* F but it’s not in the 70s. It’s about 62* F according to multiple reports

Just left Costco headed to the gym. Going to pop the hood and see if anything stands out. The AC not blowing cold is weird too though. It poured rain last night but it shouldn’t have messed anything temp wise up I would think. It’s strange

Maybe AC somehow has a leak and is blowing on the sensor. Just a guess, since I don’t know where the sensor is.

Apparently it is in the antenna blade

So the AC started working after I hit recirculate. Wondering if maybe my filters are fucked? But I don’t know why my temp gauge is so off

I have noticed my temp on the dash cluster is always off from what outside temp really is. My ac still works I think, I dont use it very much this time of year.

I'm not positive, but it's likely the hvac system and bcm use the outside air ambient temp sensor for a reference for a/c cooling. Unlikely to work below a certain temp. Seems like a faulty sensor.

This would make sense for the non re circulate option not blowing cold. Since the outside temp is reading at 18-23* it would make sense that it’s not blowing cold and when I hit recirc it blows cold.

Brian, There's a possibility the evap coil is frozen due lack of air flow, check the HVAC micro filter and see if it's clogged with dirt, etc. and replace with new filter.
Find the location of the outside temp probe and use a hair drier to see if the temp will rise. If there's no temp rise then you might have a faulty outside temp probe.
If the system is low in Freon pressure will trigger the low pressure valve and shut down the compressor, check if the compressor is running and the compressor clutch engaging. Also check the following electrical connections, outside temp probe, compressor clutch, and low pressure valve.

The sensor will be below the hood latch about half way down in front of the a/c condenser behind the grill.

I’m in Southern California and it hasn’t droppped below probably even 50. I feel like it being frozen is a long shot. But I will try and check those options when I get home. Thanks for the input

Where are you? I’m a mile from the beach so it’s possible my temps got that low too, but that’s above freezing temps. I just have a hard time believing anything froze. But I will definitely check all possible options

The outside temp is now reading 41 degrees. So it’s gettinf closer but it’s dedinitely not accurate

Super weird. It just jumped from 41 to 62 to 52 to 58. Something is definitely going on with it

As I’m driving the temp is jumping all over the place. It’s really bizarre.
