The AC also seems to be working properly now. Temp gauge is wildly inaccurate though.

The freezing of the evap coil has nothing to do with ambient temperatures, it has to do with system operation.

Ah I don’t know shit about these systems. Still seems odd it happened so quick. Everything was running fine and dandy Friday night. Didn’t drive Saturday. Had rain storm last night and then drove this afternoon and had the problems. AC is working now but the temperature gauge is being wonky. Jumping rapidly from 55 to 62, back down to 46 and so on. Grabbing a beer and then going to test your hair drier method when I get home and see how the gauge responds

As your sensor started to read higher temps, it would make sense the AC would start cooling if it indeed uses ambient temperature as a reference.

Ya. I put that together for the AC. The temp gauge is still not working though. I’ll peobably be lazy and just take it to Toyota tomorrow and have them fix it. I don’t have the time

As has been said, compressor is inhibited when outside temp is low (or it thinks its low)

What does this part look like? I’m trying to locate it now. Just turned the truck on first time this morning. Read 66* then 55* then 38*. It’s certainly not 38*

Gauge is reading 34* currently. Going to get a hair drier and run it in front of it and see what happens

Shits busted. Got the hair drier blowing on it the last few minutes and it’s just staying at 34*

Or else the hair dryer temperature sensor is malfective causing it to blow cold.

    And no codes? interesting.
Per the Service manual, DTC B1412 will indicate a short or open in the thermistor (ambient temperature sensor) circuit.

Service manual doesnt give a resistance values to check against, only voltage values... (and how do you easily check those... )... Irritating

And those voltages may be from the AC amplifyer to the ECU, ugh. Sorry, not easy to look into right now.

No codes at all. Just a temperature reading of 34* haha. It’s probably in the low 60s right now so it’s clearly off. Not sure if I want to take to stealership or not. I’m sure they’ll charge me hundreds just to have my truck parked on their lot
