My 2010 DC does not have the outside temperature in the cab. Has anyone seen an aftermarket way to add an outside temperature guage?

When I purchased my 2008 Camry SE, I purchased an auto-dimming mirror through the dealer that had temp and direction on the bottom of it. My 2010 Tacoma TRD Sport DoubleCab Long-Bed came with the separate temp/direction, but maybe the mirror is the way to go. I want to say it was under $200 installed by the dealer. I'm sure others on the forum can give you a better mod, though.

FWIW, the thermometers that come with certain packages on these trucks seem to give "warm" readings. Not surprising since it's on a "warm" object that emits radiation...

i added a $10 accurite wireless indoor/outdoor thermometer from WalMart. I painted the plastic (its white) flat black using testors model paint. Then velcro'd it right under the climate controls. The sending unit is velcro'd inside one of the plastic cubbies in the bed. It works great! Also to see it at night, I added a #4.99 bendable small light that plugs into the cig lighter. It also was at Walmart. Will post a pic tomorrow. This has been a nice inexpensive mod to get the outside temp & inside temps for me.

Are you suggesting the 3 degree reading i saw this morning driving to my job was more like 0 degrees?

That would explain why my pens kept freezing out there...

Well... I'm just saying that mine seems to read about 5-10 degrees higher than actuality. I'm a meteorologist, and I'm kind of a geek when it comes to stuff like this, so one of the first things I did when I got my truck was checked to see how accurate my thermometer was :D

Yesterday it was 17F when I left work, and my truck read 24F the whole way home.

It's no big deal to most, I'm sure...

You could also get something that reads off the obdII port like kiwi wifi and get the intake temp which is close to the outside temp.

Or duck tape a meat thermometer to your bumper and check it.

    Compass/Temp Display Install
Yes it can be done. However it requires some modification of the existing overhead console.

I went to Toyota and purchased the meter assy only. It is part number 83290-04011. I think it was $125. I then removed the overhead console and took off the door for the garage door placement. I took a dremel tool and put a notch on the front half and another on the rear half. The cable is already there to accomodate the module. You do not have to buy the temperature probe that fits in front of the radiator as it is already there. It is just a matter of fitting the meter assy in the hole left by removing the garage opener door.

The new compass/temp indicator has improved the the wattage of the 510 resistors that plagued the 2005-2008 tacoma owners. The meter assembly comes with the plastic cover over the display and it looks quite nice once installed. Works good too.

I bought a AAA powered, wired unit from Wally World, velcroed the display (which has a push-button back light) just above the vent on the driver's side of the cab. I ran the probe under the door seal, along under side of hood lip, down and put it on the backside of the grille (attached by 3M HVB tape). Works great on a cold vehicle, or when running about about 25MPH.....but when stopped for a light, engine compartment heat will cause it to rise.....but it will drop back down when you move again.

I think I paid $7.95 for it. I've found it very useful.

    Here's what I installed:

Here is my inexpensive temp/compass mod, tho Mark C.'s setup looks pretty cool too.
No issues all winter and does the trick for those w/o factory unit & cost under $20 for everything including compass & light.
The temp display unit comes white so I painted it to blend in better with the interior.
