Anybody in the New Orleans metro area well versed and familiar with this modification? Contemplating this upgrade and wanting to if others could assist if needed. TIA

I’m only familiar via my friendship with @tonered. However, I’m technically proficient with most technology. I too have been considering this for purposes of general Tacoma use as well as OVT.

Not trying to hijack the thread, just commenting because I'm in South Louisiana also...

I need a longer mini USB cable. My current laptop (which I bought just to use for the tune) doesn't have the USB 3 ports so the tuner doesn't communicate with my truck. I have a gaming desktop in my garage that I use for my golf simulator and it has the USB 3 ports. I'm hoping to be able to use it for the tune, but of course, the cable that came with the tuner isn't long enough.

One thing here. OVT generally says that USB 3.0 ports are not good.

The funny part is that my tuning laptop only has one port, it is 3.0, and works without any problem.

And just for information, yes. You can use a different length USB cable with no problem. But, your existing laptop should work just fine.

Just in case things change, OVT allows you to get a REG file up to three times.
