Can anyone help me decipher the differences in the latest OV tune? I just got the tune today and there are a few things i'm not sure about.

I take it Premium and Reg are just referring to the gas type, 33 and 35 is tire size, 4.88 and 5.29 are gear ratios, the only thing i'm not sure about is what "Thx" is referring to?

Also what are the benefits of running the premium tune?

Thanks for any help with this.

From their 2.0 Final release page:

I ran both and ended up liking the stock one better than THX but it's just a personal preference. Normally I'd go for enhanced throttle but it behaved strangely on my individual truck (04B04).

I'm running 04B04 (2016) Prem Stock 33" (265/70/17 in my case) and love it. The 91 vs 87 difference is power. 91 octane can make more HP/TQ than on 87 but even on 87 all the tunes benefits are present other than a peak power increase. Torque curve is still improved with any octane level. It may not be very noticeable but I run 91 simply because it's offering the most benefits.

And they are OLE (Octane LEarning) so if you swap gas it will eventually tune itself to what's in the tank but the files set the starting point for whatever you have in it or plan to run. Flash 87 then fill up with 91 and it'll eventually run the 91 tune, flash 91 and run 87 and it'll run poorly for a while but eventually tune down to 87 from what I've heard, though I think the range was more OLE for 87-89 and 91-93 but I'd expect it would go outside of that range and still be fine.

All 2.0 tunes are octane learning. Reg and Prem are just the ignition starting points.

    this and that...
    pulled this from another thread.

    "OVTune said:
Even though the premium octane tune *can* degrade ignition for regular octane gas, it has to move the amount of ignition further than it would if you were running the regular tune, which means higher initial detonation readings.

if you plane to use regular grade gas you should not use the premium tune.

regular > learning zoned 85 to 89 octane
premium > learning zoned 90 to 94 octane.

Using less than 90 octane will significantly degrade performance."

Is there a set of instructions on how to upgrade from a 1.5 tune file to 2.0? I have the flash kit (cable) and can't figure out how to reflash based on the instructions in the above link. Any help? Thx!!
