Have you had TSB-0092-20 applied to your truck? It makes a big difference. I used to have to have the ECT button pushed in all the time. Now I never push it in.

Im a little worried my truck may have transmission issues bc i get jerking and hesitation around 40-50mph and almost like torque converter shudder but dealer refuses to do anything as the ecm has the latest update.

    OVTune since 2018 (v 1.04), 40k+ miles on it.
    Pros:
    • All of them. Seriously. Returning to a stock tune would be like working harder for less money.
    Cons:
    • The process is a little confusing at first and OVTune is a small operation so sometimes you will have to wait for a specific answer to a necessary question, BUT there are a number of people right here on TW that can answer almost all of the questions you would ever have.
    • The weird, almost soap opera-like drama in the OVTune threads.
Regarding your transmission, if the hesitation/jerking isn't a genuine mechanical problem, I think a tune from one of the VF Tuner enthusiasts on TW will set you proper (for a nominal fee usually, and well-earned). I am running a tune from @PapaRee that is by far and away the best tune I have ever installed. Noticeably more "power," smoother shifting, and absolutely killer mpg.

If you plan on keeping your truck for years, get OVTune.

I second all of this! I had such buyers remorse especially after adding a topper it was just dog ass slow out of the gate, second gear lag/jerk, rpm hang, alllllll fixed. And....it gets 2mpg better than before (for me anyway, results vary)

How do you get an OV Tune now that they have changed to the V Forest Tuner?

    Is it only $380?

I bought my '16 MT sport new, and would finally now like to do a few upgrades. Been curious about the OV tune for a few years now.

I have a 2020 Tacoma with about 6K miles. I had it tuned at about 5K miles. Love it and wish I had it done sooner. Throttle response is better and so is gear shifting. Also noticed a small increase of about 1 - 2 MPGs.

I’m very confident it isnt a mechanical issue because in ECT, I don’t get as much shudder. Going with OVtune soon to give myself some peace of mind

You wont regret it for a second, I waited 3 years to buy a third gen but when I read about the OV tune I pulled the trigger. Better fuel economy and it drives like it should of from day one, just a totally different truck! Plus if you get someone from here to do it for you its way cheaper and you get to stand around a parking lot talking yota for a while!

I checked the OV tune site and looks like they are pausing any new sales due to software update. Would like to get my taco tuned up but not sure how long they will be down. Anyone know of any viable alternatives in Southern California?

Like others, my only regret is waiting so long to get OV tuned. I was seriously thinking about trading my truck in with 3k on the odometer just because of the driveability issues with the stock tune. Granted I'm MT, but I flashed a tune from @PapaRee and the difference was noticeable as soon as I pulled out of my driveway. I can't believe the difference off the line and while shifting now. I know the initial investment it steep, but its well worth it.

OVtune was definitely the biggest improvement on my MT, but best bang for the buck goes to the accumulator delete mod!

Just got mine done w/ @Jason TRD OR / @sibi.built on IG at ~36,000 miles. I should have done OVT at 36 miles! Damn

I've lost 1-2 MPG since getting tuned. It sure is more fun to drive though.

I hope things aren’t paused, I just put in my order on Thursday. Their site allowed me to order the VF software, cable, and their tunes.

215Grappler, any updates on how your truck performs after the tune? I have a 2021 TRD Off Road with 3400 miles and I am considering the KD Max Tune.
