Props for following the rules. So many people try to circumvent them and put up sale ads here. I thought yours may turn into one but it seems your doing things the correct way. Good luck with sale.

thanks for the heads up i messaged one of the moderators explaining i didn't want to bog down any other saturated threads. ie: development thread. but also didn't want to waste anyones time with bogus replies. hopefully they'll see that im trying to go about it the right way by obtaining important info before i sell.

I'd hold out if I were you. Mat (Ovtune) has stated that he'll be shutting down new ordering for a bit as he prepares to launch 2.0, and in addition to that there's risk of supply-side issues with availability of the cables given the Coronavirus situation. Wait a few weeks until 2.0 has dropped and folks are in a frenzy over the new tune without supply available to buy directly from OVtune (potentially) and you'll get $300 easily. And historically, Mat has sold the license for $325 when a full "kit" from him (not a regular Tactrix cable or knock-off) has been resold to another member.

I’m in the same boat as OP, I got rid of my truck and have the orange plug in kit and laptop just sitting and staring at me. Curious how this goes.

Okay, here's the scoop direct from Mathew @ OVTune...

If you have a cable that was not purchased as part of an OVTune kit (like, say, a cable purchased directly from Tactrix like I have), OVTune will sell you a license at a $120 discount from the kit price ($699 kit full price - $120 hardware discount = $579 for standalone tune license) and if you later sell that cable to someone else, they will NOT be able to use it to get a discounted price on an OVTune license. In this case the cable is permanently licensed to you as far as OVTune is concerned and cannot be transferred to someone else to use with OVTune.

On the other hand, if you purchase a resale cable that was originally obtained from OVTune as part of a kit (like, say, from the OP in this thread), OVTune will sell you a license for the Tune for $325 and there will be no restrictions in reselling the cable again later.

The full kit price for the tune is $699, so let that guide your buying decision.

Just for confirmation about how old your info is? I know that he was selling software only Flash Kits until about October of last year. Asking a similar question this year, he said that software only kits were not longer available, only full Flash Kits with the OVT / Tactrix.

Just trying to be sure since this comes up every once in a while, and I'm easily confused.
    Thanks!

I bought just a license from him in January. I bought a used dongle kit.

My info is based on emails I received from Mathew this morning, so it's current as of today.

Thanks! Very interesting. I was thinking that might have been the case, but just wanted to be sure.

Yeah. I was just curious about folks buying just the grey Tactrix direct from them. That story seems to change from time to time.

Re-licensing older Flash Kits, like yours, has been consistent.

It's a case by case basis. We normally don't offer it, and it won't be something we normally offer.
