Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
They are nice, my dad has a 06 Jetta TDI he drives for his company, with regular commuting around our tiny ass town, the car could go for a whole month on a tank easy I bet. It has the 5 speed gearbox and is a lot of fun to drive. First time I drove it I put the clutch to the floor and thought I had broken something because it pushed in so easy like it wasn't even there! My Tacoma's is much stiffer. My Harley gets up in the 50s on highway trips, I rode it home over the weekend and got 56mpg on the way home and 51 on the way back. 4 gallons of fuel each way, sucks that winter is coming. Going home won't be affordable anymore with the truck lol. Anyway, best of luck with the new ride, I am actually quite surprised your wife is letting you drive her car so much! Haha.

I went shopping for the VW Jetta TDI and the Toyota Tacoma.
I chose the Taco as I live on muddy roads and have to have 4WD.
Otherwise, it would have been the 48mpg diesel.
I would love a diesel in the Tacoma. Guess I have to go live overseas for that...

    Congrats! Great looking car.

I LOVE my TDI, with a calculated average of 50 mpg - stock. The fuel savings alone are worth having the 2 cars.

If you have not run across it already, check out www.TDIClub.com. It is an extremely knowledgeable forum, with most/all information you would want to know about your TDI.
For parts (when/if the modding starts), check out www.KermaTDI.com or www.IDParts.com.
Best of luck, man! Enjoy the MPG! :D

Pretty impressive. Just out of curiosity--does that calculated mileage agree with the indicated mileage?

At today's gas prices in Phoenix, that is cost equivalent to approximately 44 mpg in a gasoline powered car. Not many doing that.

I can assure you your numbers are as to be expected! We have had huge success with the new Passat as it was car of the year for 2012. Best of luck and holler at me if I can ever help from a dealer standpoint....:D

I'm not sure what the manufacture says the MPG is supposed to be. Looking at many different reports and reviews from forums, it varies anywhere between 45-55mpg (sometimes more!). These cars are highly affected by simple maintenance and can change with different grades of diesel, temperature, etc. Example... My fill up today was a calculated 54.7 mpg, when last week it was 48.7 mpg.

I've had a 2009 tdi Jett's since new. They are the real deal for mileage. Only car I'be ever had that I can't remember when I filled it llast...and they are torquey little buggers. Push you in the seat acceleration. I can drive 9.5 hours to my cabin and then drive around for 3 days. My best mileage with it... 1200km, 750 miles before fill. About 50 miles per imperial gallon. I'm sure I get 40 around town when I'm not tromping on it (6 speed manual)
