Ill probably be messaging you within the next few days when payday comes assuming i don't have an emergency situation pop up. is it $1075 with shipping for a longbed, or does that not accommodate shipping?

That does not include shipping or coating.
You would be looking at $1230 coated and shipped or $1130 uncoated and shipped.

So for a short bed with doors on both sides I'd be looking at $1700 + $55 shipping right? (uncoated)

That’s pretty much my thought exactly. I still kind of want one though.

I love the idea my only problem is that If i put a tent on Top it would not fit in my garage and that would defeat the purpose of easy set up. I also like to remove my softopper and the cage might prevent that. Does it remove easy? I’m also curious why you require a softopper like myself. How do you remove it all quickly?

The soft topper can slide out the back of the rack or the rack and topper can be removed as a unit in about 5min, it's actually quicker to remove both as a unit than it is to fold the soft topper without the rack.

I love this rack design! I am interested in the 2nd gen version. What changes did you make to the rack when adapting the design for the 2nd gen? If I have metal bed rail caps, will this create height alignment issues between the cab and the bed?

All I did was raise the bed rack 1/4" higher to make it easier to align with the cab rack, the cab rack is ajustable so there should be no problem with alignment.
You could install a 3rd gen rack even if it was a concern and that will set 1/4" lower.
