Over canopy modular bed rack intrest?

Really cool setup. I’m digging it. Are you using any bed stiffners to prevent sides from bending/flexing? If so, which ones do you use?

 

If you buy this set up you will love it. I have had mine now for about 18 months. Very little road/wind noise. I live in Texas and have driven to western Canada twice, RTT camping along the way. Been to the Smokies and Appalachians. It seems like whenever I would stop for gas someone would walk over and ask me about or comment on the rack. It will carry a load. Your results may be different but, I have had as many as 25 pressure treated- 16'x2x6 on the rack, no problem. I was impressed, the guy loading was impressed too.

 

I use Total Chaos bed stiffeners and they fit this thing like a glove. Like, perfectly.

Anyone know if this would fit a version 2 bestop or have tried fitting one?

 

Is the Version 2 Bestop a new thing? A Tacoma thing?

 

It’s their new model. I believe for multiple trucks including 3rd gen taco. Comes with solid side panels instead of the vinyl windows and supposedly fits better.

 

Ah, I'm going to guess I have the new model (made spring 2020) on my Gladiator then since it has solid side panels then. I know that Dissent is actively developing a rack to go over the Bestop on a Gladiator, so will presume that will be the case for Tacomas as well. (But I'm not them, so its all educated guessing.)

 

Did you get that custom painted or did dissent do the white for you? I have a tan softopper and white hard shell rtt and would love a white rack on my white taco. That looks so clean on your truck

 

Hey folks, just stumbled into this thread, and don’t want to read the whole thing.

Does anyone have Picts or can tell me how this rack is secured to the truck? Does it attach to the bed rails, or does it connect to the bed of the truck? One comment I read said something about bed stiffeners, this makes me think the rack used the bed rails.
