The height is needed for longer items and tents to clear the shark fin as well as to add a clean seamless look and transition to the cab rack. Yakima load bars could be added fairly easily as well. That being said, I do plan to offer a couple height options.

I'm highly interested in this! Can you show us how the bed rack is mounted? I'm curious to see how we can make this work with a bed cover. Perhaps a few simple "S" brackets that attach to the bed rail?

I have only looked at pics and video of the covers so cant say for sure this design will accommodate yet, however, it looks as if notches were made in the base rail of the rack around the latches for the trifold cover it may work.
The rack has a full length base which is needed to allow for a good seal. Here are the best I have of the base. The square tube on top with the clamps is for the softtopper and not part of the rack. image.jpgimage.jpg

image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg So here are some more pics and details on the rack.
This is a completly modular aluminum 10ga rack, the rack itself is 44lbs, the optional doors are about 11-13 lbs each.
All nuts are pressed into the aluminum making assembly a simple one man job! (Takes about an hour with a 18v impact driver)
There are 3 12" slotted holes on each load bar for mouting any type of rtt or other accessories.
The rack itself can be removed off the base in about 3-5 min.
The optional side doors/accessorie mounts are installed with stainless lift off hinges, have integrated handles and the doors will come pre drilled for maxtrax mounting pins and rotopax, however, being aluminum it is very easy to drill and mount other accessories!
    Axe, shovel, ect.
The doors are secured with locking latches, they are supported with 1-2 gas struts depending on the accessorie mounted, 1 strut for maxtrax and 2 for fuel.
The pricing is not set in stone quite yet but the target price will be around $1000 for the rack and $250-300 for each door which can be added latter.
I know the price is higher than most other racks but most are made from thin gage steel and not aluminum, I have also not yet seen any with the pressed in pin nuts.
Here are some optional accessories I plan to offer in the future.
    Under rack table mount,
    Quick release awning mounts,
    Side mount bike rack,
L brackets for securing loads on top,
    Grab handles,
Drop in trays on top for use without tent,
Sealed Side slide out storage for use without softopper,
    Additional load bars,
Cab rack that continues the same height as the bed rack,
    Cab height model,
    Below cab model,
    And more.
Any feedback on options you guys would like to see would be welcome as well. Thanks for looking and here are some more pics.

This looks slick! I've been eying the Softopper for awhile and now with this paired with it I might be sold! When do you think you'll have some available?

I will be doing some testing at cruise Moab the beginning of next month, when I get back I will make any finale changes if needed and then start production.
I would say 6-8 weeks if all goes well, maybe even sooner.

I'm really liking the evolution of this and looking forward to seeing your side mount bike accessory option. If it's something where I could mount my Yakima Frontloaders on each side when I need them as well as all the other bennifts and options well.....

Yes, custom only as all shells are a bit different.

This is such a great idea. I wonder if this would fit on a second gen bed?

    This....all of this.
ST group buy going on now. @Dissent86 Eagerly awaiting the 2nd gen LB version.

BTW the aluminum rear bumper caps you built for the 3rd gen are tits. I'll be going that route if/when I upgrade to that gen. Assuming I don't go to the dark side (T4R :anonymous:).

Got the first set of high rise awning brackets mounted up.
These have several mounting heights and shoud work nice with a roof top tent, still trying to come up with a clean quick mount.
Will have a low rise mount available as well as high-lift mounts. image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg

Not confirmed yet but I believe it will, the base would likley need to be notched for the latches.
