I hopped under my truck today and noticed around the front propellor shaft u joint everything seemed to have some type of fluid covering the area. There is some signs that it was previously over greased as you can see on the frame.

Also about a month ago I had the transmission fluid service done. Do you all think it's from being over greased or should I be more worried?

Looks like whomever did this for you didn't clean up after they finished work, process actually does involve to push out old grease out until you see new, and to me looks like they didn't clean it up and left all over. and given that it is close to exhaust and with all that grease sitting there it threw all over.

It happens. Nothing to be worried about. Better slightly over greased than under greased. Clean it up and move on

That mark looks concerning to me as well. That would be far more worrisome than excess grease.

Honestly why even bother cleaning it up? Free rust protection:anonymous:

OP- can’t physically be “over greased”…what it looks like is the wrong grade of grease was utilized, hence the grease overheating and separating(watery fluid and chunky grease). Grab a tube of what Toyota recommends, or some Redline driveline grease, and pump until purges new grease. Should solve the issue.

Free rust prevention and water repellent.

As already said, old grease was pushed out for new like you're supposed to but was never cleaned.

    Is it Friday yet?

I can tell you why it happened.
I happened because the tech doing the work didn't wipe the old grease off the joints.
The only way to wipe the grease off, is too stick your finger in there, in all 4 joints.
That takes time, and a grease is nasty. A little bit goes a long ways. It inevitably ends up on your shirt, pants, shoes, socks, hair,
I don't even wipe it off my own truck. I get the hell away from it ASAP.
It's will sling itself off eventually, as you have seen;)

It's not an issue. Everything looks good there.
