Whenever I drive through a shadow (tree, bridge, bldg, plane flying over, etc), even for a second, my head unit dims and then goes back to normal brightness after a couple of seconds. A bit annoying.

I didn't spend too much time looking in the settings, yet, so maybe an easy fix.

Have any of you fine people experience/fix this? Any relationship to auto headlights? Is there a way to decrease sensitivity to light shadows?

    TRD OR MT premium/tech.

    Appreciate your insights.

You can adjust the sensitivity of the light sensor in the settings like you guessed.

    Thanks.

Checked out the settings. It's not super intuitive. I didn't see anything pertaining to the display dimming sensitivity. You would think there would be something under the display settings, but there is not.

After poking around settings for a few, apparently the way to do this is: apps=>setup=>vehicle=>vehicle customization=>light settings=>headlamp-on sensitivity

I will report back once I road test.

Looks like it worked. Linked to the headlights, as I suspected.

Thanks for this and thanks for TW for having a really good search function. This was driving me crazy ass it was dusk and every time I would go through a shaded area the head unit would dim and then come back to bright. Thanks for this OP

So did you slide it down/left to turn down the sensitivity? I did this right after leaving the restaurant lol. So we'll see tomorrow

I haven't driven at dusk to notice, but I shall report back. You got rid of the truck?

I'll have to check it out on mine. I personally hate auto headlights....it was notorious for burning out bulbs on Outbacks (my previous vehicle).
