I love this video. Crazy Europeans. This guy filled the oil all the way to the brim of the dipstick tube… “this is totally insane, man” but it keeps running. Something like 20 quarts… hahaha!

I had a Chevy pickup that the first 4 oil changes were "free". After the second oil change, the truck sounded a bit weird to me. I checked the oil and found it was way overfilled. Worried about damage, I drained the oil and replaced it with the correct amount. I called the dealer and spoke to the service adviser and he said that they couldn't have overfilled it. I pressed him on how could he know that. He said he'd check the timestamp on the bulk oil and let me know. He called back a few minutes later and said they did overfill but only by about a half a litre. I asked him why I had 2 and a half litres too much then. He asked how I could know that. I then told him I drained it and measured what came out!!! He relented and offered another "free" oil change. I laughed and said no thanks, lying to customers is bad business. I haven't been back to a dealership for out of warranty service since. What I think happened was that my truck was a 3/4 ton gasser which took 6 litres of oil. The 1/2 ton trucks had direct injection and took 8.5 litres of oil. He could have admitted the mistake as it is easy enough to do. He'd rather lie and say they didn't overfill it more than half a litre. Typical dealership foolishness. It's in the dealership culture, it doesn't matter what brand, the dealerships are all the same. Sales people who don't know all that much about the vehicle they're trying to sell you and service department that will lie, cheat and steal from you.

I drained 2Qs, and put back fresh 1.6Q, dipstick is now reading between two dots barely. I think I wasted time & oil draining it, its just dipstick that sucks and i could never read it.. I guess i need to wait until oil gets some color.

I started using UV flashlight but even then the oil is all over the dipstick

I would say thats a little bit dramatic. There are much worse things in life than a slightly annoying dipstick to read :)

What works for me every single time, is letting the truck sit overnight after i change the oil and checking the level before i start the engine. Reads perfectly clear every single time. Its not even that hard to check the level right after the oil change either... I am not sure why so many folks have issues with this.

Toyota went all-in to engineer a dipstick assembly that will never reveal the true oil level.

    Yeah for sure.
Some people should probably NOT change their own oil.
