Tapped into the brown and black/white wires for radar detector and working perfect.

    Installing a Kenwood drv-n520 camera.
Plan on using the same brown and black/white wires for switched and ground, but it also calls for a constant tap as well. Which wire would I tap into for the constant; I did see someone had a problem previously?

    Thanx,

    Justin

Hey Joostin- sorry, but I didnt end up doing the constant due to the DLR issue, so I took out that part of the post. The only way I know to get constant 12v in the overhead without digging into my console further (I don’t need it so didnt look further) is to run a 12v hot up the A pillar from the fusebox under the dash.

I think I am going to run this USB coverter, the adapter and the panel USB A port through the opening in the top of the LSA sensor windshield box. This will give me a USB A port right next to the GOPRO mount. I figure eventually dash cams, etc will have different USB connectors (USB Micro, USB Mini, USB-C, Apple Lightning etc.)

Adding the pic of the panel install. It looks clean.

Thanks for the tip. I put it in today and it works great. More than one brown, black/white wires in the bundle, but I must have gotten lucky and used the right ones.
I broke open a cheap usb charger, attached wires, and shrink wrapped it.

For those without a sliding roof, the 20 amp (Battery/Hot) that is meant for it is wired up to the driver's pillar. (IN1) With a 2.3II (090) terminal crimp to a long enough wire to reach the overhead you would have another power source.

Sorry, so it must be an issue with your individual unit.

That’s what I was thinking, because it seemed to have great reviews.

I was also wondering if it was because I use it in tree covered areas? I put mine on the dash and wedge it by the windshield but no luck.. I’ve also tried it at home with my WiFi turned off and it works, but it’s slow to pick up signal.

Yeah, sounds like something wrong. Mine even works in my pack on the back seat with a RTT on top of the truck.

Return it with a nice letter, maybe they’ll swap it if you say you wanted to review it for TW ;)

How in the hell is that possible haha. Definitely something wrong with mine.

I believe I’ve had it for a year now, I don’t think TW will fly but maybe still under manufacturing warranty

It’s probably the satellite geometry (low on the horizon) that let the signals come in through the windows if the RTT and roof blocked it. Its not a bad receiver at all, in fact it can receive two different types of GPS bands, so it does get great coverage. Perhaps one of yours is disabled somehow. Is there a factory reset option in the firmware? I haven't touched mine at all except for disabling position recording as I only wanted to use it to relay the position via bluetooth to my ipad.

Hey, try this update for firmware!

    https://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=5811

BUT be WARNED: “If attempts to upload software fail, you may need to return the device to Garmin® for service.”
