HOPE? Don't guess, take a Multimeter and verify, Toyota loves to change wiring in same model different years...

By hope I meant that I already ordered the connectors you referenced. If the 12v is not keyed power that is great news, if it is, then I will tap a line I already ran into the cab since I will already be in there.

I don't plan to open up the pillar until the connectors arrive but I will test.

Update:. The pin you recommended worked great. This indeed adds a hot constant and the wore can easily be tucked under the headliner and into the over head cluster.

This was true for 2018 TRD OR without sunroof.

Was not too worried about it as I only have the 4.2 Amp USB converter on there, but considering adding a second. Good suggestion

Not sure if this is common knowledge, but for those who don't want to tap into / splice wires or run a length of wire to the drivers foot well fuse panel, this might be an option.

I came across it on Amazon, can't vouch for it though - I went a similar route as others in this thread.

believe the above is made by a fellow TW poster. Remember posting it and he came on in a different thread. He dumped discount codes for fellow members.

Im trying to hardwire my dash cam using this thread.
Under the overhead console/panel, the bundle leading down to the mirror has several brown(ish) wires and one or more wires with a white stripe that looks almost brown(ish) with a white stripe.

Are all of these browns(ish) wires 12v switched? I can't imagine multiple wires that are the same color, in the same bundle being different, but would rather ask before committing.

It is way tight up there and I have a neck injury that prevents me from spending too much time with my head wrenched around, so a little clarification would be awesome.

    Thanks!

I used the instructions in this thread to tap into the switched supply and it worked great. Very happy to get my dashcam hooked up without having to add a fuse and run a long wire. Thanks OP!

I wonder if my 2016 SR5 has this harness even though I don't have a powered mirror...

Justin, May I ask where on your windshield you installed the DRV-N520? I'm about to put one in my '18 Tacoma and I'm curious what you found to be the best location for it. I'm thinking of behind the mirror and close to the left side of the front camera housing, but I don't want the lens to pick up that housing in the view. Thanks!

Shout out for this as mine were discolored as well, and I was confused. Installed the 12v converter, just waiting on the dash cam

I'm doing the same thing, but in my 2021. I also have a few brown wires, and a couple of white w/ black striped wires in the bundle that runs to the rearview mirror. My harness in that location does not look like the photos posted throughout this thread.

Did you ever figure this out? I suppose I could wrench apart the wires that run down to the rearview mirror and find them that way, but it's tight up there and there is so much glue holding things together that I am worried about damaging things.

Honestly, the best way to determine this is to use a volt meter and a needle (sewing needle to poke through the insulation and to make contact with the wire). There's definitely a switched wire under there as well as constant. I got a dash camera that needed to be on constant power instead of switched and was able to find it fairly quickly using a volt meter. In my 2017, the brown was switched and the blue was constant. I used the colors going into the plug for the powered rear view mirror to help me get started on what wires to check.

Touch the rear of the terminals at the connector where the wires exit for circuit verification with a multimeter probe.
The wires differ in color, verify slot locations.
Toyota has ground wire as white with black trace throughout the vehicle.
