Just repaired mine tonight. Took longer for the soldering iron to warm up then to do the actual fix. I guess I can cancel my appointment for tomorrow morning and save myself the $50 toyota extra care deductable

Thanks for the great write up. I just fixed mine. Sure enough when I opened it up, the 510 was disconnected. Fast and easy fix.

Wouldn't the dealer be able to fix this overhead console if it's still under warranty?

TW is awesome. I went on here and did a little search, found exactly what I needed, and sure enough the 510 came loose from the crappy soldering job in mexico. With a little help from my dad, I got a first hand lesson on soldering and now it is all fixed up.

    Thanks guys!

OK, mine just went out this morning after -30F temps a week or so ago...related? Who knows. Anyway, 2006 with 96K on it, so that seems about right compared to everyone else!

Thanks for posting this thread! I went to the dealership yesterday and they wanted $90 just to look at it and find out what was wrong. I said I would think about it and starting looking online. The same resistor is the one that was the problem with mine. It really did not look like there was a problem but when I heated up one side of it, it slid off! The other side was completely unconnected!
A great diagnosis and fix!! Save me lots of dollars!
    I appreciate it!

awsome post, only thing to add those chips are tiny, both of my 510 chips were broke off and rattling around in the compartment. Be careful, they could be easily lost. It took me longer to drive to the hardware store to get small gage wire for the iron than it did to fix the problem.
