Try siliconmethod, they might be able to help with your repair.

I had to solder mine 3 times before it worked. Also I used electric specific solder the third time and it worked great.

I have still not found a 510 resistor anywhere, I can't even find one online. I went to radio shack and they didn't have a clue. This is really starting to make me mad!! Is it actually called a resistor? When I google it nothing of the sort comes up. All help would be greatly appreciated!!!

    Thanks,
    Sean

I just recently fixed 3 modules and sold them...2 had bad solder joints on the 510 resistors and 1 was missing a resistor completely. You do NOT need the flat 510 resistors to fix it. You can get the "peanut" shaped resistors with the stripes and the wire sticking out of both ends and solder it to the circuit board. I did this and it worked perfectly.

Mine was completely not working and I assumed a fuse. Did a search to find the right fuse and found only this thread. Decided what the heck, and low and behold it fixed the problem. Very nice :)

Can someone please post pics of the fix? Could this also be a blown fuse, if so where would it be? Would it be in the truck behind the little door on drivers side or under the hood?

I appreciate your write up, took 10 minutes to fix it. Soldered up really easy. I wonder why they keep separating like that?

I got the info for the mod here about 2 years ago. I forget the dude that posted the fix w/ pics...went extremely well. Resoldered both resistors, no trouble since.

It wasn't clear to my eyes or fingers whether the resistors were loose or not, so i put a small blob of soldered at both ends of both resistors and.....Voila!

This is my first Post on TW because I gotta say, I am thrilled to have fixed this little annoyance. Many thanks to whomever discovered and posted this repair. I wish i could buy ya a beer!

I read this post a LONG time ago and didn't try soldering the 510 circuits because there was no visible disconnection.

BUT, after taking 20 minutes to execute what is the probably the worst solder job ever recorded with 15-year-old solder on both of ends of both 510 circuits, I now have my temp and compass back.

I wish I had done this years ago...
