I followed the written directions and found they are written perfect.

Found one "510" resistor with what appeared to be a cold solder joint that came apart. While resoldering this joint I touched the other "510 resistor and it came loose, fliped over on the PC board. After soldering the second resistor back onto the PC board, reinstalled in vehicle, and all worked as new.

Thanks to the person who shared this information. It has saved a great deal of money rather than replacement, as I was instructed to do by a local Toyota Dealership.
Also thanks for having this website available.

The display just went out on my '07. I knew TacomaWorld would have the solution. Thanks to those that posted this fix.

Hey, thank you so much for that help. Now I can't wait to tear it apart and fix it. I've been missing that, and thought it was rather cheap of Toyota to put in something that lasted only 4 years.

Finally found a forum with the right answers, Fixed the compass Took 5 min to pull out and re-solder the 510 connection. Works like a charm . Now to figure out how to get my Check engine light to go out after replacing fuel cap.

Hey Greg, you may want to start buying elsewhere

    http://www.toyotapartszone.com/oem/toyota~clip~for~roof~console~box~90084-46017.html

My local dealer, with jobber discount was $.52 each (plus tax). Of course, I had to order them by phone as this is not a stock item, but they had them the next day.

    1. Turn off the truck and remove the key. Remove the gas cap on your truck. Wait 60 seconds and then put it back in place and tighten it.

    2. Put the key into the ignition and start the motor. If the check engine light has shut off, you're finished. If not, proceed to Step 3.
    3. Turn the vehicle off. Plug the OBD II scan tool into the Data Link Connector (DLC) on the driver's dash underneath the steering column. If there is an "On/Off" switch on the scan tool, turn it "On." If you dont have one, Advance Auto will loan you one. You can do this in the parking lot.

    4. Put the key into the ignition and turn it to the "On/Off" position. (on click forward of the lock position where you would pull the key out).
    5. Select "Codes" and then "Delete Codes," or a similar series of commands on the scan tool. When the task is complete, it will either return you to the main menu or display "OK." Each brand of scan tool is a bit different depending on the manufacturer.
    6. Unplug the scan tool from the port and start the engine. The check engine light should now be off. If not, you will get another code like EGR or Fuel Sensor.

    Good luck with your fix.

Great fix as my overhead console just went out today so went right at it. My 510 resistors were solid but based on previous posts and pic I went ahead and soldered all 4 ends of the two 510's. sure enough, fired right up. Tx again

Exactly. Couldn't ask for better help than TW.

Just bought an '07 a couple of weeks ago and it was already out. It was on my small list of things I was willing to accept because I got such a good deal. Glad to find a FREE fix!

Also, I am terrible at soldering. My solder job looked hideous. I was sure I screwed up the whole thing, but somehow it worked.

I also updated the "region." Mine was set to the wrong number for my area. Calibration appears to be ok, but I'm going to check it over the next few days. Temp just reminded me how dang cold it is here right now.

Mine just went out in my 2008 today :( Glad I found this thread, already have the tools, but the pictures in the OP aren't there. Any pictures elsewhere in this thread?

Edit: Nevermind, found some 2 pages back :anonymous: So you just have to resolder the 510 resistors or replace them?

Re-solder the 510 resistors, both sides, both resistors.
