I’ve been trying to fix the rattle coming from the headliner where the map lights are but have not been successful. I tried pulling it out and taping down the wires but it still makes a buzzing noise when I drive. Anyone have any success fixing theirs?

Did not know that was a known issue for ratting on the '21. Glad mine doesn't do that, but I have had to deal with a whole slew of other rattles that were equally as annoying.

You sure it's from the overhead console? Do you have a sunroof?

100% if it push my hand on it or pull it a certain way while I drive it stops.

Remove it completely and see if the issue stops then. Then see if you can make the console rattle while off the truck. Figure out what is rattling and stop it.. it's usually not hard to stop a rattle once you pinpoint it.

In all honestly mine does it too. The overhead console is relatively the same from 16-current aside from the differences found between models (OR, Sport, etc), the way it attaches I should say is relatively the same. Dirt roads, rough roads etc all contribute to things getting loose. Mine started rattling near day one... I was ticked about it at first but got over it eventually. I still at times press against mine to so it shuts up for awhile.

You can try some fleece wire loom tape around the clips that hold the console in place.

I’ll give it a try. It’s weird because it’s almost like it’s rattling against the headliner because when I push up on it it will stop. But it doesn’t really make sense because the headliner is soft.

If you pull the panel down and drive around do you still hear the rattle?

The headliner is lined, but the console is held in with 4 red push clips into metal (it feels violent but just pull straight down on it to remove it). If something is rattling there, you'll know pretty quick once you get it out of the vehicle.

Guy already said if he pushes against it, it goes away. Most likely the tolerances around the clips. Several other threads on this floating around.

I had them tape and felt everything at dealership, still buzzed. I pulled it down and randomly(lol) crammed a microfiber cloth in there, that made it to where it barely buzzes. But it still does some. What really bothers me is that when the radio is on and the two sounds are combined it sounds like the radio has static, which it does not.

Yeah. I realized a while ago that it stops rattling if I pull the black console slightly (like I’m about to pull the whole thing off). What I did was fold a couple of 3x5 note cards into a small square, colored it black with sharpie, and tucked it into a corner of the console. It sticks out very slightly but the black blends in with the headliner so you can’t even tell. Since then zero rattling.

I think I’ll pop that console out this weekend and explore. Pushing and pulling the console didn’t stop it. I’m thinking there’s a loose harness up there or something.

Let me guess ... better during the day when warm (well, AZ has warm days currently at least) but more noticeable at night when colder. Push one corner to stop it, squeaking frequency high enough to drive you nuts.

That was beyond annoying on my new until dealer looked at it, concluded "bad rear view mirror". Then modified it to "one of the mounting bolts for the mirror needs to be torqued down. It is still there a tiny bit and may go back and have them look again, but playing with that rear mount screw has improved the situation.

My 2021 did the same thing, I removed the console and it was the headliner vibrating against the roof of the cab.
I fixed it by placing 3M double sided tape between headliner and roof.
