Hello to all. Just joined. I have been having problems with my 95 toyota pickup. It is the 22 RE 4x4 with 145K. It has overheating issues. I am adding coolant all the time. Can't find the leak. I feel like it is blowing out the tailpipe? I have changed the water pump, radiator, thermostat, flushed and burped it. (Thought it had a air bubble in block). My feeling is its a blown head gasket, but no milkshake oil or discolor in radiator. Had mechanic do headgasket test to tailpipe twice and both times he said not a blown head. Does have white color exhuast but disappears after awhile. I think it smells sweet and is a lot of moisture but truck sits a lot too. Also, it has a ruf idle that seems to jump around. It will be idling and the engine just revs up and down like the auto choke is sticking. It always had that but the overheating is driving me crazy. My worst fear is head gasket but mechanic said otherwise. However a 2nd opinion is coming soon. Any 2 cents I would appreciate it but I know this has been discussed in prior threads. Thank you.

Adding coolant, no visible leaks, engine issues.

    I would bet head gasket.
    Sorry Bro.

yep your tailpipe tester doesn't know what he is doing

to test a head gasket you do a compression test and then a radiator leak down test

there is no such thing as a "head gasket test to tailpipe", he made it up

the sweet smell is the antifreeze being burned in the cylinders and that's the smoke you see, it probably goes away as the engine warms up and it seals itself until it cools down again, otherwise you would be running out of water and overheating every time you drive it. the rough idle is also the same issue
