was stuck in mostly stopped traffic about 83 degree weather. Noticed my ac getting warm and the temp gauge going up. Turned it off while stopped until I got out of traffic. I've tried to duplicate but doesn't happen so I know the dealership won't fix anything, my guess is I have a faulty fan clutch. I can't help but feel like I got a lemon this sucks.... maybe time for a pro?

Probably the fan clutch. It happens, doesn't mean it's a lemon.

So, what this REALLY sounds like is "I need justification to upgrade and any old thing, real or imagined, is going to be enough to put me over the edge and trade for a Pro." Does this sum it up?
Oh, chances of having a fan clutch "faulty" for just one instance are slim to none lol. It either fails (unlikely) or it works.

Get what you want. Life is too short and if you can afford it, do it!

Actually Ive had the common issues since I drove it out the lot, I have had the truck running on idle and nothing happens, I dont want to go somewhere and be stuck in the same situation. that being said for DAMN sure this is an excuse. A legitimate excuse too I think, too bad my wife disagrees

    Happened 1 time.

Hasn't happened again and can't be duplicated.

    Worried that it's a lemon.

Put down the Tacomworld and go outside for a while.

    That is a great idea.

That is why I like TW, you never know when or where the brilliant flashes will come, but it happens, and it makes putting up with the whiney noises less bothersome.

    Thanks!

    And see y'all later.....

The TRD Pro Tacoma will not be any better than a base model Tacoma. They're all third gens, they're all made the same place and they're all susceptible to the same design and quality flaws...doesn't mean they'll all have them but they are all susceptible to them.

Contrary to popular belief the TRD Pro is not made in a Unicorn Factory, far far away in a magical land, and different from where the peasant models are made.

You've had the common 3rd gen issues and it has pushed you to the point where you don't even care about losing money you just want it off your hands, so youll trade it in for......

Another 3rd gen. Specifically a glorified OR model with basic, overpriced upgrades.

Serious question, not bashing you here, are you die hard Toyota/Tacoma? There are other options out there that would make more sense if you aren't happy with the 3rd gen.

Sounds like you should sell it and upgrade to a 1st gen.

I had this happen to me, but it was during an extreme heatwave. As soon as I got some speed in the truck it started to cool again. Sweat my damn balls off.

    "maybe time for a pro?"

I see this shit way too much around here. I really don't get the logic. To me the Pro is just lipstick on a pig. There is so much part commonality between my SR5 and a PRO that I would literally never consider one. If my truck needs to be more "PRO" I'll just put a better suspension on it. We're all driving the same anemic powertrain around town. Does everyone really need a power rear window and some "mall crawl control"?

Bottomline, if you're concerned about Toyota's quality control, throwing more money at them won't solve your problem.

    Well said!
Really you're better off getting an SR5 4x4 and upgrading the suspensiona and adding an ARB air locker to the rear. You'll end up spending the same or less and have a better truck. Of course this depends if you're a lipsticked pig fan or you drive your truck.
