Overheating.....???? This was our temperature in Brawley, CA (Imperial Valley Desert).

We had no problems as far as overheating.

    Just saying

Dang! 112 degrees :bananadead: driving a little to close to the gates off hell perhaps? Could be an issue with the fan clutch or the thermostat. Let us know the solution:thumbsup:

Should always shut off the truck if the gauge gets near red, that kind of temp is a short and/or long term breakdown waiting to happen.

Ah makes sense yeah, I wouldn't either in that case. Shame cause it shouldn't happen in the first place...living in CA near the desert we've had some 115+ days and my 04 has never done that. I would think it's either the fan clutch or thermostat. Interested in what the dealer finds or has to say

Sorry to hear about your troubles. As others have said, the cooling system is certainly capable. I have Rock Crawled (< 1 or 2 MPH) for hours on end in 90+ degree weather with the A/C on which is a huge load on the system due to the truck fully loaded + 40" tires aired down to 4 PSI (massive resistance), very steep grades (massive load), and nearly zero air flow due to how slow I can go (engine fan is doing 99% of the air movement) and have never seen my gauge deflect from ~45% temp. I do have the tow package which gave me a power steering cooler, but am happy to report that steering also has yet to overheat which could be even more impressive than the engine while Rock Crawling...

Question: I see that even the yellow caution triangle is not illuminated and I wanted to ask if there is any other indication on the dash for high temperature? In all the Toyota's I've driven I can't understand why Toyota doesn't install a simple red blinking light right in the center of the temp gauge to warn of elevated temperatures. I know there is a "normal" operating range, but if the gauge ever reaches even 65% then that's already enough to let me know something is abnormal and I'd prefer to have a massive red light alert me of this...

Was hoping the new Taco would provide more feedback for overheating (other than the obvious, which, is too late :( )...

I've only studied basic circuits but if new vehicle temp sensors are anything like sensors on Hilux pickups, all you'd need to do is make a circuit that powers a LED when resistance goes above a predetermined amount.

    Regards,
    BigMike

No issues here either. Even sat in a parking lot with the AC running for 20 mins the other day when it was 111 and the gauge never went any higher than it does any other day.

Holy balls! Why is your triangle exclamation point light (forgot what it's called) going off?
