Will the P-0117 put the truck in limp mode ?

Bro-in-law was driving the truck and said steam was coming from under the hood but said gauges were fine , got truck cooled down , found the rad cap in pieces in the top of the radiator, refilled coolant with water just to get off the highway , truck started but runs rough , check codes and got p-0117 , my question is.... is it a head gasket making it run rough or could it be in limp mode from the ECT P0117 code?

just in case this helps out someone , yes clearing the fault codes returned the engine to normal power , enough for me to notice steam from the tail pipe. looks like head gaskets hopefully not a cracked block or head

2006... probably a head gasket. Get a compression and a leak down test.

Jimmy has good advise you need to do a compression test...is there oil in the radiator or coolant in the oil?
