While unlikely it's possible you have a frozen pulley, you should remove the drive belt and see if it turns. If it still doesn't turn with the plugs out and the belt removed then most likely your engine is toast.

That only means it detected a misfire on cylinder 6 while it was running, a misfire itself will not cause overheating or engine seizure.

Were you able to rotate the engine by hand or was it still locked up with the plugs out? Trying to ascertain whether the motor is locked or your starter isn't working (which could be as simple as dead battery)....there's multiple troubleshooting paths to go down, but details are key.

Assuming you turned the engine manually, clockwise FACING the front of the crankshaft, and it won't turn, your problen may be bigger than I originally thought. The motor should turn even if turning the wrong way, but you might end up with a jumped timimg sprocket tooth(or 2.....) if you went the wrong way.....
I think I'm done with this one, because quite frankly, I'm not sure what's REALLY going on.

Tell the molbile mechanic to go away when he shows up. My guess is he will at the very least sell you a new coolant tstat and radiator cap souced from an Auto Zone 3 blocks away or take half your truck to a junk yard out on Hwy 90/Castroville Rd.

Hope you get it figured out.

He's not coming back. OP overheated the motor until it seized. The mobile guy knows this and isn't interested in replacing a motor in someone else's driveway. He's already moved on to other things

Mobile guys dont want to do heavy line stuff with a lot of responsibility attached, they want easy in/out stuff like brake jobs and tune ups. Once he sees he can't make any easy money on a frozen motor he's gone

Well, You are probably going to be looking for a replacement motor. If it is still locked up with the plugs out the main bearings are seized. Or something is broken inside and is locking the crank shaft from turning.

Engines are pretty easy to come by. If you can inspect the used engine of choice, prior to installing it, pull the passenger side valve cover.

From there, you'll be able to determine how well it was taken care of, by oil residue, cam lobes, and timing chains.

The engine swap is actually pretty easy.

Try to get a Tacoma engine from 2009-2011. Or 4Runner from 2005-2008.

The swap can be easily accomplished in a day, as long as you have new fluids ready, an engine hoist, and some jack stands to hold the transmission in place.

junkyard motor is your best bet & don't be afraid to throw another motor in it & sell it. In this market - selling a tacoma with a 2nd motor is fair game!

Get yourself a bore scope that connects to your smart phone. Take the plugs out and look down each cylinder. If the piston tops are shiny looking meaning no carbon buildup chances are you got water in that cylinder. Water or coolant acts like a steam cleaner when the engine is running.
