I keep a non programmed key wired under the truck to open the door and a full key in the truck.

I may or may not have forgotten my keys in the RTT all packed up, and had to open it back up to get them... twice. :anonymous:

I'm always paranoid that I'll leave something in mine so I check it like 5 times as I'm putting everything else up before it finally gets packed up haha

Never really thought about keeping a spare key somewhere. Wouldn't be a good day being hours from home with no cell service.

I keep my keys with me at all times. In the tent, I put them in a place I can find them in the dark w/o looking. Still, I am afraid of losing the damn thing.

I will be installing a full OME kit on my '99 Tacoma soon. Recommendations for replacing or upgrading other parts while I have it apart? I am putting on SPC Light Racing UCA's too. Any good maintenance tips would be helpful....

Are you replacing the leaf pack too? If so, and if you're going with dakars, I would jump over to the squeaky leaf thread for some 'how to' fix the squeaks we all get with dakars.

This thing is to be avoided if any of you live in the rust belt, FYI. Doesn't hold up against salt corrosion. Stick with a hide-a-key or the old 'zip-tie hanger' somewhere out of sight/not easily accessible.
Personally, I always have my Leatherman on me so I've got a spare key in a doubled up ziplock bag duct-taped on the back side of my license plate. If I ever lock myself out I can just unscrew the plate and grab the key, and it's invisible.

Shrug. If anybody wants to come to Maine and try to steal one of my trucks, just use the key that's in the ignition. It'd be less work, haha!

Just bring her back with a full tank. I've got others I can drive in the meantime.

Yep. My town's about 1100 people, maybe. Including kids, lol. We don't even have a police department; just the regional sheriff and the State Police. Got a volunteer fire department, though!

Thanks for the response... I will look into the lower ball joint. If either of you have done this before, any tips would be appreciated.

And yes, I am putting on Dakars as well. Hopefully I won't get too much squeakin'. I'll look into this as well.
