Yea it's nice but wouldn't stand there for any length of time. Doesn't look overly stable.

What exactly do you think is going to happen and what about it makes you think it is unstable?

I realize that it is just doesn't look like it. Looney Tunes would make it flop over on Wil E. Coyote

We've set a soft departure date of may 2018, I'm already feeling some pressure as there is a lot and I mean a lot to do, to the truck before it's really ready for such a trip. right now the plan is to get south at a good pace so we can hit some fun stuff on the way back north and take our time. major projects on the truck are gonna be dual battery setup, roof rack, lighting, some sort of inverter setup, fridge freezer, need to modify my rear bumper for fuel cans and I'll probably need new tires then too, as well as more storage solutions. needless to say I've got many hours of wiring and many days of eating Mac n cheese ahead of me lol

I forgot to add finish my freaking suspension holly balls how long does it take to ship things from California to BC lol

go 10k, rule of thumb is 1.5x weight. You would want to keep your truck under 5k for the M8k winch, mine came in at 5400ish I believe and that was with zero gear. Im guessing your truck will be a very similar weight after the bumper/winch, so you'll want something bigger than 8k

I used the same reasoning. Plus I plan to have a trailer on from time to time.

I like overkill so I'd go with the 10K, but couldn't you just go 8K with a snatch block?

Yes you could and I'm sure you could swing it without a snatch block but for how long, and when will it not be enough when your vehicle weight is likely over 6k loaded down. Thats the answer I don't want to find out when I'm wheeling alone (80% of my wheeling is alone)

The rule of thumb is 1.5x your vehicle weight, so I would just stick to that.

You certainly could but then we start talking about math and you get to hear someone extrapolate on adhesive qualities of certain types of mud and then there are the arguments about maximum strength at full pull versus half wound pulls and then the "use three snatch blocks" guy will chime in about how he can do everything everyone else can do with his boat trailer winch.

In the end if you can safely do it with what you have then go for it. But allot of us don't go so much for overkill, but for having the assurance that our setup is the safest we can have within our budget. The one and a half rule helps address the issues brought forward by mud, ruts, heavy packed snow, and the like.

Autoanything does 20% off year round, the discount code changes every 2 weeks to whatever deal its called next lol

Sometimes the code will work on some items and other times it wont, if its not use their sale support chat and ask if they could do it. Bushwhackers was the only thing I couldnt get them to add the code to but they were already 10% off
