Who all is going on Thursday afternoon so we can try to put some TW people together in a group in the on-site camping area? I'm planning to get there pretty early, like 1pm when they open the gates to the camping area. I want to get a choice spot and have at least one more truck coming with me.

I think a lot of people don't camp on site. I'm yet to see what the new location is like, but the old one was a muddy field with no wind cover. Made for an expensive camp site and cold nights. If you haven't already paid for camping, I highly recommend the forest. It's free to camp and crazy pretty.

I wish I knew what the surrounding area looked like, not sure if it really is heavily wooded or still pretty open? Maybe @mh.meier can chime in? I'll be up there last weekend of April for Tundras to Sedona, so ill make a decision where ill camp then. As of now I'll be headed up to Flag late Wednesday or early Thursday morning

I've been there and done that. I didn't mind the wind and everything even last year. I looked at the new camp area for the new location, and if you check it on satellite imagery, there's decent tree cover. I have already paid for the weekend camping onsite, and don't mind the cost. I like to step out of my tent and walk over to the expo at my leisure, not have to hassle with leaving from an offsite camp and wait in the truck line to get back in and park.

Last year there weren't hardly any of us camped onsite, but that's their preference. Most everyone was offsite, trying to save a buck or two. Privacy is nice that way, but it wasn't necessary. I spent Saturday night offsite with that group, but it was pretty quiet so I just got a good night's sleep. My friends in my group want to be onsite, as we are going there to make some serious purchases and we want to spend the full 2.5 days shopping very carefully, finding deals, etc.

Once I'm set up, I'm staying put. With the RTT and the awning/body deployed, it's not worth the effort to go check out trails in an area I already camp/wheel at in the summertime. It's also just too busy to get in and out of the expo to go run trails. But, to each their own. I'm not all young and energetic like most of you young whippersnappers. Call me an "expert in efficiency" and a "maximizer of relaxation".

Im avoiding onsite for a few reasons.. Main one being the location and grounds look lame as shit imo. The others being cost and privacy/area.. Not to mention we might not even go visit the expo. Primarily going to explore and camp for a few days.. I enjoy the trails around Mormon lake... But we might not even go there.. :notsure:

I'll be arriving from Texas early Thursday, doing most of the drive on wedn. I'll be ca ming on site Thursday and Friday for sure bit could seer myself venturing out Saturday and Sunday since I've never spent time in the area. It's looking like I'm making the trip solo and it would be great to setup near or with other TW members!

Watching the demos is pretty fun. The whole thing is a great social and networking experience, too. Consider it! Sure, the camping is lame and there's no seclusion, but the people that attend are like-minded and I made some good friends last year from all around the world. Every evening was a mini party, and I expect this year to be better because everyone won't be hiding from the wind.

That new area isn't on a huge meadow, and the camping area is protected by trees so wind exposure won't be anything like last year. Snow? Sounds fun.

Wind was pretty rough last year. I found a pretty protected area and still got blasted. I'm hoping it's not as bad this year since gf will be with me and she will hate it.

Oh I've been to the expo... I know all about it. Im just not a fan of camping on site. Especially with this new venue. I'll stick to the woods.
