Honestly I’m not sure where i want to go just yet. I’m a sophomore in college and have slowly been working on my build to get it ready and when I graduate I’m going to take a trip. Not sure where just yet but if you have any suggestions let me know. I’m in Arkansas right now and home is Texas but i want to go to Cali maybe and hit spots on the way.

Thank you. I’ll make sure to keep all these in mind if I do decide to go the heater route

After camping in below freezing temps with a few setups, I’ve found the best luck with layering up and using a good sleeping bag and some heavy blankets. My tent always gets condensation on the walls with any heater I used. My girlfriend and I slept comfortably all night with lots of blankets and layers in 12 degree weather.

Well you must be a planner. :)

Good for you! You will have a great time. Depending on where you go -- and when you go -- your bigger problem may be heat as opposed to the cold. I agree with the most recent post that a good sleeping bag and a few wool blanket and you will be fine. If it were me I would have a solar powered electric blanket just in case ... I'd also look at a small solar powered fan for air circulation in the warmer months.

Good luck to you ... keep planning !

Lots of YouTube videos on budget camping set ups for a Tacoma that might also help give you some ideas.

Dude. Buy a cheap ground tent and spend the rest of the money on gas and the experience. Forget the #overland gear. You don’t need it and the experience will be better than any number of gram likes.

I’ve thought about doing that but when I graduate I’m going to buy a new truck and keep this one as a project. I’d want to go rock crawling and take it to the dunes and other things just to have fun it. I figured if I go cheap now I’d eventually have to buy what i initially needed. Might as well do it right the first time. But I appreciate the thought
