Hey y'all. Just barely getting started with an overland build and had some electrical sort of questions that I couldn't find anything generally talking about. I've looked at the dual battery set ups and ibs,the big 3 upgrade, and solar transfer. I'm interested in running camp / awning lights, and wondering what kind of set ups there are that you can run camp or awning lights while the truck is off? (That's actually gonna look clean) Thanks!

Going with something similar on my truck eventually. I'm going to be making a custom rack setup since my cap sits higher than my cab does. With that setup I'll probably build in recessed areas for 6-led pods for 360degree lighting. I actually probably should look into a dual battery setup soon.

I would definitely go with LED's due to their draw, I actually saw a Colorado with those Amazon solar walkway lights mounted to the side of his cap and it lit up the side of the truck pretty good for ambient lighting.

I guess my question is more so is there a way to hardwire an led lighting set up that you can run while the truck is off?

Sure just run power and ground direct to the battery, a lot of my accessories that I added to the truck are setup like that. My CB radio is wired in to turn on/off independently of the truck. If you want it to turn on/off with the truck - run power through something that is switched (ignition triggered).

Awesome! And from that figuring out what direction (dual battery / solar charge / both) with that so don't have to worry about any battery drain
