After 2 years of saving, I have the $ to "invest" into my Tacoma. I've done a great deal of reading but wanted to get feedback from the community on if there is anything I'm missing or if there are things I should be aware of for this build.

First, let's start with the base:
    • 2017 Tacoma TRD Off-Road 4x4
      • Everything is stock except I'lll have about 350 pounds of static load already on the bed. I have a bed rack with a 3 person+ CVT Tent.
    Parts to be ordered:

    Questions:
    1. Does the BP51 with the heavy leaf pack enough to carry the extra load of the bed rack + tent + tailgate. Which is about 500-700lbs? The OME Heavy left pack just says 300+.. Not sure where that +. ends.
    2. When adding all this weight won't the 2-3" lift be removed? I'm concerned of clearence with the new 285/70/17 tires.
    3. Any think I'm not considering?
    Thanks!

Many things could be recommended, but here are some common things associated with lifting and bigger tires:

ECGS bushing (preventative for vibrations really common with lifting tacomas)
Shims (possibly needed to correct driveline angle after lifting)
Different leaf packs to support that much weight (if maintaining lift is important)
CMC probably needed with 33's (especially if you intend to get full range of flex offroad)
Gears (with that much weight, otherwise goodbye 5th and 6th gear)
Tune (will also help with shift points/getting that torque/throttle response back)

Great, this exactly what I needed. I'm sure there is more, but perfect start of more things to research / add to the list.

As for the suspension. Say I get the 700lb springs, and the different leaf pack for that heavy load, but I don't get the tailgate / bumper immediately.
I would imagine the ride would be very stiff? Do the shock adjusters help with that enough?

I'm not sure honestly; I don't have any experience with them. That being said, I know that Icon makes a leaf pack that can be configured in a few different options for different weights. It may be something to check into if you plan to build your truck in stages, or have extended times between configurations of weight. But yes, if you don't have the weight to justify a certain spring rate, it would be stiff. As for adjustable shocks/dampeners, I don't have experience with them to know if they'd help enough or not.

No. Shock adjustments are to fine tune the ride characteristics. Springs are the only way to compensate for extra load.

The heavy leaf pack is just the medium pack with an extra leaf, what you could do is order the heavy pack and remove the leaf and then add it back when you get the bumper.

OME BP51 with Heavy Leaf pack for constant load ordered.
Now onto 33" or 35"s.... I have been looking at tire sizes for 2 days now...
