I bought this JK hi-lift mounting kit.

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FMOJZHS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

... and I should be able to make it work. I just wasn't expecting this hi-lift to be so gdman heavy, and I'm wondering if this mounting kit can take it. The kit was meant to be mounted vertically, on the hood... but I'll be using it horizontally. Sideways.

I'll probably have to drill into the rack to get this to work - but I'm okay with that for a hi-lift.

    I'll report back.

@CBI Offroad Fab - I see lots of Rotopax on this bed rack but how would you mount Maxtrax on the side? The mounting pin holes don't line up with any holes on the side of the rack...

That would be a pretty shitty excuse.

This weekend I'll be able to confirm whether or not Tred Pros will fit. I don't think anybody in my group has Maxtrax.

Any updates on the TRED Pros fitting? Did you use their mounting brackets?

I'm currently not planning on mounting TRED's or Maxtrax there anymore... but I did hold up my friends Pro's to the mounting slots, and it looked like they lined up fine. The Pro's are longer than the 1100's. They also have 6 mounting holes as opposed to 4.

Thanks for that. So the five "slots" on each vertical side support should be the same width as the TRED Pro dual mounting pin holes which should allow for the TRED mounting brackets to be used?

Where are you planning on mounting your traction boards?

I go my CBI rack back in August 2015 and I has the same issue of the mounting bolt holes being to small. I had to drill mine out. Told the guys @CBI Offroad Fab and they said they'd look into it. Apparently they did not. I love the rack. Had a CVT on it for a while but now it has a yakima basket on it as I sold my CVT.

Well, he doesn't use the mounting plates, so I can't speak to those. But eyeing the holes on the TRED Pros, I saw open slots directly behind them, so you'd be able to bolt them to the rack pretty easily.

Actually, my friend does have the Pro mounting plates, and a couple months back he said he hated them because the TRED's flopped around a lot (while mounted on the side of his bed rack). Apparently, according to TRED, the mounting plates are only supposed to be used horizontally.

I know I asked the other day but where are you planning on mounting your traction boards? Still on the CBI bedrack?

Just got my rack about a week ago. I see what you mean about the holes being small (top ones for the cross bars). I didn't have to drill, though. Ratcheting the bolts got them through.

The issue I did run into was that the bolts for the bed rails were too short. Or so I thought. They wouldn't reach the nutsert bracket or would push it towards the back and wouldn't grab. To solve this, I just bought a 3" bolt and threaded it in one side, pulled on it to thread the other side. Once that was on, it was a simple matter to remove it and thread the other bolt on.

All in all, a pretty nice rack. You can barely see the crossbars in the rear view mirror and I don't notice any wind noise at all, even with the windows down.

The crossbars closest to the cab does block out the bed light a little, but not so much to make it unusable.

Also, the aluminum version was pretty light. The two boxes it shipped in are each labeled as 32 pounds.

Added the hilift before the weekend trip. Had to drill out the 'slots' on the rack a bit and then used 1/2" bolts, wing nuts, and washers. Like with the other side of the rack I cut pieces of wood that fit into the vertical beams. Basically they act like giant washers. I like to think it relieves a bit of stress on the rack. They're painted black so probably hard to see in the picture.

I also added some rubber edging so the hilift isn't pinned up against metal.

The hilift itself rattles quite a bit, but the mounting is super solid. Very happy with it. Especially for about $20 in hardware.

Which side does your RTT open up on? Are there any issues with it hitting the Rotopax when open? I want to do a similar set up as you (Rotopax on each side of rack) and am hoping they won't interfere with the RTT when open.

No, that's one of the main reasons I went with this rack. It's as low as a rack can get for rotopax + RTT. It's close, but no clearance issues.

Hey, so anyone with this rack, do you think removing the rear 2 cross bars for trips would make it too unstable?

I know it's kinda wacky and off the reservation but I'm considering the packaging of loading up Honda Ruckus scooters into my long bed, while still being compatible with this rack...

Bed depth is 19", the rack is 14" tall, that gives me 33" which means the 28" seat height will fits under with room to spare, but the handlebars stick up to 40.3"

So obviously that's a no-go on loading with the cross bars in place.

I could maybe make some sort of quick release setup where you unbolt the crossbars to load and unload, but I dunno how much of a pain in the butt that would be.
