Any benefits from switching from ovtune 2.0 prem to kdmax regular?

I’m on 2.0 premium, thinking about switching down to regular just due to gas prices for long term. I like the way 2.0 drives, zero complaints other than cruise control shifting.

 

Most pro tuners can help you move over to regular with OV. I do think it always comes down to personal preference with any tune, but if you’re liking how OV drives then there’s no pressure to switch to something like KD or any other custom tunes. The biggest difference you’ll see is the cost of gas between Prem and Reg.

As for cruise control, there are no tunes that work for the adaptive(radar) cruise control. They will always default to stock mappings for shifting and throttle. However, if you hold down your CC button for like 2-3 seconds, you’ll see it change over to “constant” on the cluster. Constant cruise control does utilize tune maps, but obviously you won’t have the radar controlling your speed.

 

This may be a stupid question, so forgive me in advance….Does a tune like this have any affect (positive or negative) on the longevity of the truck?

I’ve had trucks forever but never run a tune on one and unfortunately I know nothing about them. I checked your guys’ website first but didn’t see an answer so figured I’d post.

 

I personally believe it will NOT hurt the longevity of the motor. We monitored with OBD Fusion for over a month while testing on all years-auto and manual transmission before releasing the tune to the public. Since then we have been running it on Thousands of trucks for over 6 months. The numbers (temps, knock values, etc.) we were getting were all better or the same as the stock tune.

Hopefully this helps you. But since the tune has only been out for 6 months, I can’t honestly guarantee anything. There are people, including myself who have been running various tunes for the past few years and have not seen any negative affects.

For the first time I checked the voltage readout on my Dometic fridge while driving and it was only getting up to 13.7 so I guess I need to get the alternator tweak done for my AGM batteries. You guys didnt do my tune, it was done at a group event where someone drove in from CA. Can I throw you some cash to get the this done?

the tune was done by KD Tune. I know because it was at my house. @TWTaco was the man tuning all of us. It was not KDMax, it was the tune prior. I believe KDMAX event in Phoenix was mid-April

 

Just had Eddie tune my 21 off-road today. Great guy. Highly recommend. Truck drives how it should now.

 

Will adding a different air filter/CAI or exhaust require retuning?

 

Not on all trucks. The ones that we have seen that need it are ones with S&B CAI's because it moves the MAF sensor a good bit. But, we have only had 2018's and 2021's that had problems. WEIRD!
So the best thing is to let us know if you are having any weird problems after a CAI install.
The one thing that was seen was "bogging" when trying to accelerate to pass on the highway.

Loving it! Removed bogging acceleration from a stop, gear hunting on freeway, overall much nicer drive!

Oh yeah it's been almost none stop the past couple days lol. My rental customers also decided to pick this week to total a couple of my cars and even abandon one at the border so it's been a handful to say the least! But I am planning a lot more small tune meets, like my Mesa one tomorrow, hopefully once a week at least. I hired a new team member so I may be able to take more time away and tune more very soon.

 

Keep us posted I would like to update to Pro, what do you charge for that? You tuned my truck in August.

 

Been running the KDMAX pro for about 1000 miles now. kicks ass. Do it worth the money. Lovinit.
