Whatever I learn from you guys
Alternator started making a squeaking noise so I tried to get it fixed under warranty (33k miles) but they refused. Dealership states that my 2017 (has tow package) alternator was overloaded due to my accessories (lights,ARB air comp, and winch). Which I don't use very often.

Are these guys full of crap or do I just suck it up and buy a $800 alternator and put in myself?

Pretty sure you're out of luck with all your accessories.

Just makes noise? Still works? Drive it until it breaks.

Squeaking is more likely bearings in the alternator... that is a belt tension issue, not a current draw issue...

(I personally keep my belts loose enough to squeal occasionally, to reduce load on the bearings... same on power steering and air conditioner where you can...)

I have no idea how the belt tensioner works or how much tension is recommended on these engines, haven't touched it. But good luck with dealer, I have no suggestions for getting them to do the right thing.

You can try to fight it under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty act but it's going to be a tough row to hoe. You tampered with the vehicle's electrical system. The dealer can argue that you are putting a larger load on the charging system whether you have ever used the accessories or not. Good luck.

    How is an alternator $800?

Take the junk off, go to another dealership

Buy any OEM parts lately? I'm talking about chineaseum crap from Autozone but actual OEM?

Edit- quick Google shows a new denso lists at $ 512.71. That's new not a reman. Add in dealer markup and we are not far from $800.
